Has anyone here tried changing into their running shoes post swim and then riding the bike with PowerGrips or cages? What would be the positives and negatives? I'm also considering a similar set up for a tour.

The question is how much time does that save you in the overal race? Maybe 20 seconds, but you also loose some efficiency on the bike. In a sprint tri a lot of people do it, and the time savings might be worth it. Anything longer than that and I would be more concerned with comfort and efficiency. But you can certainly do it.
On my first road bike I had cages for a week and found them a little dangerous when I had to come to a stop. I couldn't always get my feet out of the cages in time. Maybe because of I was newb.

Getting in and out of these is super easy and there are times where I feel that they are just as efficient if not more efficient than clipins. I only plan on doing Sprint Tris and really my time changing wasn't that huge last year but I was wondering.
I am not calling you out but there is no way they can be more efficent then your foot being BOLTED to the pedals. I see some doing it on sprints and it might just help but anything more then that you don't save time.
My concern would mainly be the softness of the running shoe sole. I don't think it would hurt your power too much but it would be uncomfortable.

That was the question. Power grips are pretty damn close to being bolted but how much efficiency would I lose? would it be negligable?

I ride flat pedals with no cages or power grips for sprint duathlon. I have 25 second transitions. I average 21-22 mph on the bike depending on the course. Would clipless make me faster? Probably, but maybe a half mile per hour over the entire course of 12-15 miles.
That being said, I am going to try (no pun intended) tri shoes and clipless pedals this year OR cages. Not sure yet. Riding now with road shoes and clipless when I train.

I have powergrips on a utility bike; they're no faster to get into than toeclips. And you can't pull up effectively.
Running shoes are squodgy. A friend who has raced a couple of entry-level sprints using running shoes and flat pedals was cynical about the difference until we got him in some bike shoes and clipped in - and off he disappeared! Of all the bike gear improvements, being clipped in is #1.
David,
I don't think it would make that big of a difference. However, I have only ever road biked with clipped in shoes before. I usually lose duathlons to my friend who can run below 6 min pace for both runs, and he only wears running shoes. I guess it just depends on what gets YOU to the finish line the fastest. If you can capitalize on your running time and feel the most comfortable not changing shoes, then go with the power grips.
