Hi I am Imants, I live in Seattle and I used to ride a lot of on road when I was a lot younger. Then through highschool and college I was not riding at all. Now over the past few months I have been borrowing friends bikes for little trips here and there. Then about 2 weeks ago I got a sweet deal on a mtb from a friend who had swithced to full suspension. This bike had all xtr components and a marzocchi front for, and the frame was a 2001 Rock hopper, so it was decent. I got it for $400.
I rode to work every day for two weeks and was loving it. Then two days ago it was stolen. It was locked up in the office garage with an attendant on duty... so it was not like I was being a twink or anything... Needless to say this pissed me off.

SO now I am building an on road bike from an old Raleigh frame that a friend just gave me in sympathy. Having had a positive experience learning about another hobby of mine (paintballing) through forums, I looked for a solid one on biking, and luckily found this site. So now to read up and hopefully meet some cool people who can aid me (a total newb with respect to bikes) in puting something rideable together with fairly minimal funds.

With regard to info about myself, I am 23 and a recent (June 02) graduate of UW with a double major in Swedish and International Studies (International Economics). I work at a law firm in Seattle and will be starting law school at Seattle U in the fall next year.

Thanks and i look forward to posting, and reading here!

Sincerely,
Imants
