It was a little passed 6am and I was getting ready to climb the steepest part of Pinnacle Road (ouch!) and I saw a light coming the other way.

Is that a motorbike: No light is too small.
Is it a moped: No it's not making any noise.
Is it a ... HEY! IT'S ANOTHER IDIOT OUT ON THE ROAD IN THE DARK LIKE ME!!

You were well lit. Good choice of lights.

I got all giddy and waved but thought, Well, duh, it's dark out.

I've been commuting to work from Belmont to Shelby for a good part of the winter and have yet - until today - seen another cyclists.

Show yourself.

I wish. :(

Thursday nights are tough for me to get out. My wife usually has a meeting that night. Dad takes care of daughters. We watch old MST3K dvds. Tonight! "The Brute Man."

But, let me asked you something about the HMS:
Are there a lot of folks on regular road bikes? Like, no aero bars and all. I'd love to come out and just hammer a few miles out one night.

twasn't me, either. It would be VERY cool if the guy was here on BF, though. Sounds like a smart, well-equipped cyclist, so he might just be here!

That Hickory Speedway ride must be the shizzle, with all of you driving from all over to ride there!

Uh, last ride before the TT season is next Tuesday, baybuh. ;)

Regular road bikes. I don't think anyone had aerobars. Or maybe they were moving too quickly. I posted a pick of the slower of two pacelines in the Foo "Whatcha Doin'" thread. http://www.bikeforums.net/showpost.php?p=3940548&postcount=21979

So, if you want to come out and hammer, Tuesday, March 6, is your last chance. It's $10 admission, open from 5:30-8:30pm. You'll want to touch base with CycleMagic the day of, to see if it's been cancelled due to weather or cold, as were the first two Tuesdays.

Hey, cooperwx. Yeah, it's da bomb, baybuh. :D I saw "Asheville" on the I-40 road signs. I guess if you point east on I-40, you'll find Hickory easily enough. ;)

I'm going to that last ride, barring cancellation. Hope to see you both there! I think warrenl is planning to go, too, sub. He's in Gaston County, I believe, FWIW.

Ka-duh! Tuesday not Thursday. I see that now. Sorry.

That does sound like fun and a gent here in Shelby (where I work) goes to them.
I do live in Gaston County. North Belmont to be exact.

Welp, lets see what I can do for the 6th. I'm a lead tenor in my chior and our practice in on Tues. nights but I might be able to miss one so I can come out and have some good hammer time for the legs. It could really help for my next race.

Wow, MST3K? You're a cool dad.

I probably have 50 or more episodes recorded. My favorites of all time are as follows:

Night of the Blood Beast
Danger! Death Ray
Incredible Melting Man
Giant Spider Invasion
Horror at Party Beach
The Brain That Wouldn't Die
The Amazing Colossal Man
War of the Colossal Beast
Manhunt in Space
Escape 2000
... and the list goes on. There are just so many.

My youngest daughter likes the old black and white horror movies. Both my daughters will watch old Sci-Fi horror movies with me. One of their favorites is "Plan 9 From Outer Space." God that movie is horrible.

How did I miss this thread? any how, looks like we've veered from the original post, but the MST3K caught my eye. Last time I was in Austin, TX, we went to Mr. Sinus theatre presentation of Footloose at the Alamo Drafthouse. It is the live version of MST. What a riot! it was rediculously funny!

I absolutely love them.

My youngest girl, Lilah, watches them with me. Her favorite: Horror at Party Beach. "Daddy, let's watch the one with the monster that has all the hotdogs in his mouth."

Yes: 510 - The Painted Hills.

Lassie plays a boy dog Shep but they keep calling her "girl" in the movie. DUH.
