i just wanna see some opinions. Personally I like Albes better, they have better customer service, and are cheaper on stuff.

Danscomp is pretty good, although last time they shipped my package with DHL, who couldn't find my house and made me wait to get it until 2 days after I was supposed to... Albes and Empire are good too.

I like Danscomp's site best.

I like dans, but last time I ordered a helmet from them it came all screwed up. I was too lazy to mail it back, so now I have a nice, new, unused, and screwed-up helmet. I dont even no why I bought it in the first place, I never wear helmets.

I don't mean to be a dick. But i would bet you've never had trouble with Dan's and your just saying that because everyone hates the 'big' more 'corporate' bmx mailorder...

Don't get me wrong Albes, Empire and Staff are all great too but i doubt Dan's has screwed anything up and not fixed it. Except for that whole T1 mess a few years ago. But T1 finally bit the bullet and is now sold at Dan's again.

Why support some guy driving around in a porche instead of somebody who actually cares about BMX? I've heard of plenty of issues as far as customer service goes. Eitherway, I'd rather support Tom, Tina, Todd, Pat and those guys than......Alloy? or whoever. Buy some stocks if you like Dans that much.

not to mention im a pretty firm believer that the people at dans knows whats up. I called them once to ask a bunch of questions about parts and they pretty much knew what they were talking about.

Well I feel i could have an OG tag since I have ben here since december 2004 (second account). Honestly the only reason I made it is bcuase I set a DC icon as my avatar. Then i wasbored at like 3am so i played with it in paint and i made a O with like a back wards C out the back of it when i tried combing too, so I was like oh that could make OG. Then when i did make it I didnt want to waste it. I realy think it came out like ***** and itll be gone when i fel like going through the user controls and finding my DC icon.

Well of course the workers are going to know what is up. Thats why they hire and train people. I'm not saying dans comp doesnt have decent workers, I'm saying that people like Tom and Tina and all the other rider owned mail orders put so much back into the bmx community. They put on contests, support many riders and other bmx events. I can gaurentee the person/people who actually own dans comp could give one **** about bmx. Infact they own CCS skateboards. Maybe youll see the owner out skating at the park someday. You can give them a thumbs up? Maybe even get a ride in their porche! GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!

I actualy dont need Dans or Albes becuase their is a bike shop like 45min from me which is almost completly BMX oriented and they match dans prices. Not to mention if you buy the parts at the shop they put them on free. Its funny becuase the shop is ran out of a garage and is jammed to the roof with BMX parts.

this is thier link, you can kind of see how much stock they have in the photo section.

you didn't prove anything. both companies are in the business to make money and had bmx influence and background in making the companies. danscomp is just a bit more corportate and businesslike, but it treats them well and they still sponsor riders and have a good time. so chill.

sprintcarblue

Agreed all companies are companies. Sure dans comp pays some riders, but I really don't think the amount put back into the community is equal. You can throw your money where ever you please. But when I spend my dollar I like to atleast know my money is going to people who care about our sport. Dats all I'm sayin, b.

i pretty much order from wherever i can get what i want quickest, fastestest, and reliablesest(word?), and cheapest.

but....
1. dans is a company, they do business to make money as do all other mailorders. if they didnt want to make money they would be riding their bikes instead of selling parts.

2. dans does sponsor people, hook people up with free parts (see their contests), and promote the sport in a positive light by letting people send in pictures that they'll post under riders

3. they have that scratch and dent section which is pretty cool because it gives people a chance to buy solid good parts for cheaper

4. they're hospitable

5. they have competetion. they are not the only bmx mailorder company. there arent many bmxers and if you divided up the amount of riders that buy their parts from mailorders between the 5 or so good mailorders thats really not THAT much business. i mean its alot but probably not as much as your thinking.

6. they run a good business, they havent messed anything up for me.

7. they promote the sport of bmx in a good way. i'll give my money to anyone that does that.

ive ordered from dans a few times in the past.

sure the parts came in a decent amount of time, but they raped me on shipping for small bits, and some of the people there dont have a clue in the world what they are talking about. i got lots of ummm... i dont know....

but when I call albes, or empire, i get straight answers, no BS, superb customer service faster shipping at better rates and I know that MORE of my dollar is going back into BMX, than with a larger corperation like danscomp...

to me, danscomp is the MTV of mailorders, and thats just not my thing.

Wow, I'd expect to see kids like you on bikeguide but I guess morons are everywhere. If you don't care enough about the sport to consider buying from rider owned companies you obviously don't care that much about the sport. "Your opinion sucks" shows how incredibly close minded you are. When you guys are old enough to have your parents buy you cars, I hope you quit bmx and never, ever have anything to do with bmx again. sprintcarblue: I can understand you're passionate about that, but that doesn't mean you should call people morons and imply that if they shop somewhere other than where you do, they shouldn't even be involved with BMX.

It doesn't neccesarily mean people who buy parts at companies other than Empire or Albes don't care about the sport, or about supporting 'rider owned' companies. Everyone who opens a shop realizes they have competition, and they do their best to get customers to buy from them, and just because some shops might put out riding videos and have a friendly retail location for people to hang out in, I don't think that makes them any more deserving of my business than another shop.

I wouldn't expect a mail-order shop to have any customer support available, even if they do - if I'm ordering it over the internet, I'll do my research over the internet at places other than the place I'm buying it (that's after reading any pages they might have published on the subject).

By the way, Dans does include free stuff with orders sometimes, if that's one of the perks you're saying smaller shops give you. Maybe not much, but they threw in one of their 2007 calendars with my last order even though it wasn't over the cutoff amount to get one.

I understand that. Because if you call Albes and Empire those people will probly know more then the peple answering the phones at Dans. I'm sure some of the people at Dan's know alot too but the phone people always seem to just answer your questions by clicking on their website and reading you what you allready know about the product.

Either way Dan's is a respectable mailorder. But i still say it's better to support your local shops.

And mude you forgot to mention that they have plenty of conetests and sponsoer events. Almost all of those BMX Invasion contests are sponsored by them.

The reason your local shops are probly crap is because they probly aren't aware of how many kids ride around you or don't know how to get into BMX. If you and some friends went in and started ordering parts and talking to them i'm sure you could help them get into bmx and then they'd have more stock.

Unless they are ******bags like one of our local shops and they don't want anything to do with bikes despite the money it would bring them.

Fortunatley there are two or three all BMX and MTB (the dirt jumping and racer mtb people) shops around here that like our kind.

but....
1. dans is a company, they do business to make money as do all other mailorders. if they didnt want to make money they would be riding their bikes instead of selling parts.

No ****. Way to point out the obvious. You need money to do what you want.

2. dans does sponsor people, hook people up with free parts (see their contests), and promote the sport in a positive light by letting people send in pictures that they'll post under riders

Okay, they do this. I already said that, though. I've never really seen or read anything about any jams or demos dans has put on. They just aren't as passionate as putting money back into the sport. Whenever I see videos, talk to anyone ect, it never has dans comp involved. Honestly, lets see the dans comp team DVD compared to the Empire Dvd, eh?

3. they have that scratch and dent section which is pretty cool because it gives people a chance to buy solid good parts for cheaper

I've never really checked this section. For some reason I doubt they ever have anything THAT great. Albes just got done with their 24 hour for 24 day sale. Unfortunatly from all the *****ing from companies like dans got mad and complained and they had to shut it down. Every mail order has their sales. I buy most of my parts on sale.

4. they're hospitable

Ive ordered there a few times and it honestly didn't seem like they knew their heads from their asses. A lot of people I know have had experiences with them shipping the wrong things and not being that great at their customer service. Look at Empire, they have the ask bonnie section which is very convienient for all you kids that don't know what you want.

5. they have competetion. they are not the only bmx mailorder company. there arent many bmxers and if you divided up the amount of riders that buy their parts from mailorders between the 5 or so good mailorders thats really not THAT much business. i mean its alot but probably not as much as your thinking.

Every kid at sometime or another thinks its a good idea to buy from dans because of their shiny catalouges. Luckly most of them decide to go to a better, smaller shop like staff, flatland fuel, empire or albes because they realize that they are much better in the end.

6. they run a good business, they havent messed anything up for me.

yeah yeah yeah we went over this. see section 1

7. they promote the sport of bmx in a good way. i'll give my money to anyone that does that.

pretty sure we went over this too. see section 2

they actually do have some very good stuff in their scratch and dent section.

i didnt know albes shut it down, but if they did the reason wasnt because of dans complaining, it was the suppliers complaining.

your retort to number 5 didnt really address anything i said
