On the rare days that I leave for work early, I'd like to vary my commute to Times Square.
(Manhattan Bridge to 1st Avenue, ducking west at 33rd to 6th Ave.: That's the fast way.) I tried the scenic route to the Williamsburg Bridge today, but man, riding along that torn up road under the BQE is terrible. Even Bedford is rough-going. I don't mind going a mile or two out of the way. Is there a scenic route to Williamsburg?

It doesn't answer your exact question, but for Park Slope to Times Square, I used to take the Brooklyn Bridge, cross town on Chambers (tough, but brief), and take the West Side greenway up to that area. I'm not sure if there's a time cost but about 75% of the trip is scenic, well paved and low or no traffic. It made for a nice way to start the day.
Yeah, the Brooklyn Bridge is quite nice, I did that run all the time until the spring, when the tourists on the bridge were just too dangerous to deal with. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow.
