Hi,
I am making my 1982 Nishiki International into a commuter/utility bike. I am stripping the frame bare and painting.
I have had an aluminum kick stand on the bike since day one (bought the bike new). I noticed that the bottom of the chain stay (Beween the bottom bracket and the little reinforement tube between the chainstays) where the kick stand is clamped is flattened...I am not sure if it is friction wear or squished.
I am thinking about brazing a plate, with a hole on the bottom of the chain stays to use to attache the kickstand (commuter/utilty has to have kick stand) I have a little Berzomatic O2/Mapp gas rig. I havn't done much brazing, but have done a fair amount of silver soldereing for jewlery, sweat soldering for plumbing, and misc electroncis soldering.
I have a piece of 1/8 in steel bar (type you can get at home depot) I was thinking of using.
Any suggestions, advice, alternatives would be appreciated
