Road Cycling - Build or by a new bike

I couldn't buy the parts used as cheap as this bike is selling for. So, the question is, anyone buy this just for the build kit? Other than the wheels, it's all Record. Most build kits for this quality are over $2000. To be honest, the frame doesn't look half bad.

So if you've done the research and know that buying that bike is cheaper than buying a component group by itself and that's what you want to do, what answer are you looking for? If someone says "no, nobody's stripping the components off the bike to build another frame," would that stop you?

Building a bike isn't about economics as much as it is you are discriminating to a point where you just can't buy off the rack because you would end up changing almost everything anyway....seat post with a certain setback and adjustment...stem....handlebars with a certain drop and width....gearing...compact versus reg. or triple, cassette range...crank length, saddle of course....wheels and frame....even choice of bar tape and tires. In other words the whole thing. If you buy "right" you can build a bike for a decent value but generally more economy is derived by buying a complete bike...problem being for those that are into the sport, an off the rack bike won't suffice.
Build one bro if you want to have some fun and get what you want.

It's been a while since I've bought a new bike. I'm not enamored with compact geometry or aluminum frames. Personally, I try to find decent steel frames and use newer groups. The price on this was really good. You could always sell the frame to help defray the cost. Don't know who would buy it though.
