These guys are really amazing. The extreme endurance races are some of the most difficult athletic events imaginable. But for the most part there are no fans, no sponsors and no major media attention. Races like this are a rare example of pure sporting events, where it's just you against the howling wilderness. Just commuting across town at ten below is enough to sap every bit of my energy. Drop the temp another twenty degrees and add fierce wind and remove anything resembling a proper trail, then increase the distance a hundred fold, and you've got some idea of these races.

Yeah, but he has fancy gloves! ;)

Yeah, and he didn't have to work after for 8 to 10 Hours in a fast paced, high pressure job, where miscalculations can get you sued, then have to ride home again in -30C and dark, only to make supper, get the kids to basket ball, shovel the walks, and then have to do it all over again the next day, 5 -6 days a week, months on end :D

Real Winter riding....? Phttttt!!

It's a Great accomplishment none the less, however there are lots of real winter riders here too, slogging it out everyday ;)

I'm picturing the next extreme endurance event where they have to cope with a bunch of complaining kids the whole way. LOL
