Hi all! New here but not new to riding. I mostly ride with my 69 year old father on the numerous "rails to trails" in our community averaging twenty to thirty miles a day in season.
I got back into cycling when our department decided to form a Bike Patrol. I became a Police MTB instructor. Somehow all of the riding and training benefits couldn't keep up with all of the years I abused my body and I had a heart attack on duty which led to my retirement. So now I have plenty of time to enjoy my bicycles and work on a healthy lifestyle.

Hello tci2, we've got some running threads asking about police bikes and their use, so I am certain that you can give some first hand insights!

Too bad about the heart attack leading to retirement, but at least you are still able to ride a bike and enjoy life.

Welcome to BF!

Where would I find those threads as this appears to be a large community.

I think it's in the Commuting forum, if I'm not mistaken.

Ah, it is here (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=272616&highlight=police)...

Appriciate the welcomes. The "other" forum is not so friendly to newbies.
