Foo - My Gmail was vandalized!!!!!

I left my gmail logged in at school yesturday.

A kid who sits in the same desk earlyer this morning took the liberty of destroying my gmail.

he deleted everything, 15 months of extremely important emails.
he changed all my info to extremely derogatory remarks.
I almost cried.


Suppose i could provide sufficient evidence to prove who did it...
(confession+witnesses+search logs on the google account that show exactly what time of day the obsence pictures were searched for to post as my display picture)


Could i press charges?
Is there anything i can do?

Try contacting the school athoritys...they will tell you can do or they will take of it.(it was done on their computers)
I woulg be extreamely pissed. I treat my e-mail like my snail mail,It's private!!!

One of my friends liked to log into everybodies' accounts and change stuff like that. He got in trouble several times, and never really learned his lesson.

I'd be more pissed as myself if I were in your shoes. What he did was wrong, but what you did was like leaning a bike against a building in Detroit, going to class, and expecting your bike to be there when you came back.

You won't have a leg to stand on in court, and would you really cough up thousands of bucks so that this guy can get slapped on the wrist? It won't get your e-mail back (it's gone forever) and there's no monetarily quantifiable loss. I think it's time to chalk it up as a lesson learned (I hope) to not use personal e-mail on public computers. Just logging off won't help, either. Someone could be using a network sniffer (to watch passwords as they go over the Internet) or even a keystroke logger (a software program or hardware device on the computer you're using to record exactly what you type so they can look for passwords, credit card numbers, etc.)

Change your password and take away a very strong lesson about security issues in the future. Public computer terminals are absolutely not to be trusted in any way, shape or form. Do not enter your username or password to anything not related to the location. If it's at school, use it for your school e-mail and network/file access only.

Even though it was a biiiiiiiiiiig mistake leaving yourself logged on, he shouldn't have touched it regardless. I'd say a good butt-whooping is due.

He f*cked up. What I would've done was delete all your emails and leave it at that. That way you'll never know what happened.

Its pretty sweet, the desks have a glass top and the monitor is beneath the glass, with a slide out keyboard.
