hello,

I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations for bike shops in the OC/LA area that do good work for lower price. I am rebuilding a bike and just had it powdercoated, there is some paint on the headtube so I think I need to have that and the bottom bracket faced. I dont have the proper tools, and basically need to have the headset (threaded) and bottom bracket installed as well. Most of the places I checked out were asking 35 for the face and 35 for the installation, does that sound right? Thanks for the help.

I think I paid about $40 to get the fork crown race milled and head tube and BB faced and chased at Budget Pro in Eagle Rock. I bet it will be hard to find it much cheaper than $35. I did the installs myself (I got a deal on a park tools headset press a while back).

$35 sounds STEEP for chasing the BB and not even installing the BB itself. I'd shop around for sure. I think I paid $20 for the chasing and install of the BB down here @ Beyond Bikes.
