Classic & Vintage - completed my Giant =)

Hi all, I know that alot of you arent interested because its not Italian, but I thought Id post it for those of you that are interested, moderators, I do understand if you feel that you have to delete the post due to it not being an Italian bike :)

Thanks! The paint job is orig, and so are the rims....but I added the mudguards! LOL! ;)

Sweet looking commuter, but I'm not quite sure why you would post it in C&V... Maybe the road forum, maybe the commuter forum... Maybe n several other forums...

In the occasional threads that people discuss what classic and vintage means, the time frame is rarely as new as this bike... But, thanks for sharing! :D

Nice bike BTW. I would wonder about those wheels for commuting, but to each his own.

I used an old rigid steel Giant Iguana for commuting for several years back in the early to mid 90's. Funny thing is that bike has come back home to roost.:eek: a bit worse for the wear, but I plan on cleaning it up and making it my foul weather bike...might even go internal gear hub on it:D and on second thought maybe a fixed gear two speed via a modified S-A AW hub;) (yes I have too much time to think)

I don't weigh that much (more than I should, but still not THAT much) and even I would think twice about those wheels :D .

Im new to this forum but can say that so far I havnt run across any rude members :) all have been really nice and REALLY helpfull! including the moderators!? :D Im kinda worried about the wheels too, Im 5"9' 220 lbs (mostly muscle....and fat) I think Ill check out the wieght limit on them before I go for a ride!

All the moderators are good--but it seems as if whenever a moderator comes into this forum they just turn into the best! It's like....magic...

I think I would check the weight limit on the wheels too. But they are nice looking!

I ride a xero wheelset with a 24 spoke count front and rear, and at 215-220 have had xero:) problems in over 3000 miles.

I was going to buy one of these last year and I had the same concern. Here is an email response from XERO regarding wheel capacity:

Hi , Charlie:

Thanks for your email. XSR-2 is 20/24 spokes wheelset. The weight capacity for XSR-1 is below 80kg ( 176lb). The following is our spoke counts weight capacity for your future reference.

20~24 (include 24 spokes) --- below 80kg

24~28 (include 28 spokes) --- below 90 kg

up to 32 spokes ( include 32 spokes ) --- No limit
