Hi folks!
I suppose I am a "former Great Lakes" cyclist, having just moved from the Cincinnati, OH area (to Missouri). So Hello.
I just got a notice about the scheduling of the '07 version of an event hosted by friends of mine. It is an unusual event, so I wasn't sure where in these forums I should post it. If this is the wrong positioning, (or if promoting events is not welcome here), please let me know...I'm still new here and don't want to step on anyone's toes. I am not directly connected to the event, but I will probably participate in it this year. Thanks.
The event is the Tour de Road America, which is a charity ride around the Road America racetrack. It is held in conjuction with the Champ Car World Series (auto) race at the 4-mile closed circuit near Elkhart Lake, WI. Many of the racing drivers who are there for the weekend - some of them major international stars - are enthusiastic participants in the event.
Here is the blurb my friends sent me today:
Cycling: Tour de Road America scheduled for Aug. 10
Sheboygan Press staff
The fourth annual Tour de Road America, a bicycling event that raises funds for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, is scheduled for Aug. 10 at the Elkhart Lake racetrack.
The event is part of Road America's Generac Power Weekend featuring the American LeMans Series and the Champ Car World Series Aug. 9-12.
The bike ride will be held the evening of Aug. 10. Participants can ride at their own pace, from one lap to as many as they can before officials declare it's too dark to continue.
Racing fans, families, cyclists, cancer survivors, race car drivers and the teams participate.
For more information on the event, see www.pelotonride.org (http://www.pelotonride.org).
