I'm starting to make plans for Bike NY in May. Will be visiting my parents in Bergen County, like have the past few years.
Last year I drove into the city and parked on Riverside Drive near 122nd. That gave me a 10 mile warmup ride before the event. This year I'm thinking about driving to Fort Lee, riding across the GW and getting a 14 mile warmup. Also avoids the bridge toll and the city traffic.
I got two questions:
- Is there any problem or restriction on parking in Fort Lee on Hudson Terrace, especially around 6 am? I've driven down that road several times, but never stopped to read the parking signs. I know that several towns around there have restriction of overnight street parking that they like to enforce in the early hours.
- Does the GW bridge usually open the south path to bikes and pedestrians on time, at 6am as they list on their website? Or do they sometimes forget to unlock the gates until later? I don't want to get stuck on the wrong side of the river and reach the form-up late.
Any info would be appreciated.
