Hi all, I've just got back into biking after a long stint apart and am loving how much bikes have evolved to take punishment; I've worked up to fast dropoffs/jumps of 4 - 5 foot but now I've found some local dirt jumps and I'm having probs...

I'm fine at riding off things, but what's the best way to take off a quaterpipe shaped dirt jump? Lean back on take off, pull the front wheel high, then level and point the bike down for the transition ramp? Lean forward on take off, with the bike already level? Any other tips?

Actually if you centre your body and you have the right speed you should just flow into the tranny. Can you bunny hop. Instead of 'riding off everything' try bunny hopping off everything. It gets you in the groove to do djing. Bunny hop off the lip will give you the time in the air you will need. Keep your body centred and natural and you should end up pointing down.

Cheers

get some speed, compress during the tranny, at the lip pull up as hard as you can! center your weight in the air, land back tire first!

Make sure you are comfortable in taking on the jump and visualize yourself doing the motions. After you have done that and feel that you are ready, sit down, take off, and hold on. :)

If your going 4-5 feet or high for drops and your landing on flat land considering finds drops with transitions. I experienced this same thing. And it almost busted my rim.
