hi all,
my bmx is 3 or 4 yrs old. a haro f series. i don't bmx, just like taking it out for casual spins. i really only bought it because back then, i didn't know a thing about cycling. it just brought out some childhood sentimentality. so i guess you could call me a poseur.

anyways, i was in the lbs buying my road bike couple months ago and took a gander at the latest lines of bmx. either i've been studying roadies too hard or something is changing in the bmx world. the seat tubes all looked way shorter creating a more extreme slant of the top tube. the sharper triangle of the frame geometry causes the bikes too look worse-off IMO. but okay, that's a purely aesthetic call. but are these changes improving performance? the new geometry is seen for all bmx applications (flat, dirt, etc).
what's new in the bmx world? these new bikes look more kiddyish.

cheers.

most stock geometries have been the same for quite some time... very few companies are getting very innovative in that regard

Yes, they are improving the geometry for thier intended use, trickery. Also, the materials used are greatly improved so they can use better junctions (less gaudy gussets), less materials (smaller tubing), and are lower the top tube to create less tubing in general that is needed for a lighter bike. Try to spend 10 hours at a park on a 40lb STA from 1999 and then hop on a built up 25lb autopilot. You back and every joint will thank you.

*note, this isn't a very detailed description, just know that bmx has greatly improved in the last 4 years.

The reason says spam, but I didn't really see any in his posts, although he was listing some ebay auctions in his sig and made one topic... He might have done more that got deleted though.
