Take a look at this (http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_14/601-0470069-9507324?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000MDXUKC) it's just plain scary looking...

I feel sorry for the poor sap that thinks they're going to get Cadillac quality from this "thing".......

Believe Kent International Inc. makes those bikes. The Sturmey Archer 8-speed internal hub makes it worth the price. When Amazon had a xmas sale with the price about what is costs for the hub alone, those bikes sold out. You don't have to use the backrest. The design is unconventional and may not be everyones cup of tea.

As long as the buyer is happy with the bike, the build quality, and the bike meets their expectations and needs, it's all good regardless of price.

I believe Trek used to offer a comfort bike with a similar clamp-on backrest.

I wouldn't exactly say "scary". It's certainly "gimmicky". I believe I've also seen "PT Cruiser" bikes. However, if the buyer does think a Cadillac bike is a high-quality, luxury bike, they are silly.

I would concur with Sci-Fi that as long as the buyer is happy with the bike so be it. Personally, I would invest the money in a bike of known quality.

All it needs is a matching pair of bolt-on armrests.

Curb feelers are silly! I want to know where the arm rests are?

I wonder why Cadillac or GMC or whomever would want their name associated with an x-mart quality bike. Slow, heavy, high maintenance, and cheesy looking is not something to which I'd want my name attached, no matter how true it is. :)

Why not? That's already the image I have associated with GMC and Cadillac.
