Southern California - joshua tree spring ride april 21st.... anyone interested?

anyone want to ride in the Park on saturday april 21st (and you rustic type can camp friday and even saturday night!) i asked extort about this date since he's the camping coordinator! it's the weekend after mulholland.... actually... no other important rides that seem to be scheduled... if we go too much later in the year.... it may be too hot for most of you!

i've had a couple of people say to plan another ride out here... so if you want to come... this may be your chance!

if we get enough interest extort can do the camping planning and we'll discuss routes (there are only a couple available!)

ok... what, pray tell... do you have planned? the only things i can find are the 600k brevet in san diego (extort told me about that one) and the rosarita to ensenada.... on either list i use i don't see any other rides! if it's not organized you need to cancel and come here... that's an order, missy!

Actually, it was a blast, although I imbibed a bit too much. :o This go around I may drive up the day of or I may camp...hmmm. I just don't know. :p

i'm thinking in april we're gonna want to start by 7 a.m...... (i'd even earlier but since some will be driving in..... don't want to make it too early for them!)

Yes.....Sheep Pass or Jumbo Rock would be nice. The campers can start their rides right from the campground and skip that long climb in the beginning..... :D

and yes....we're hoping to get sheep pass that way it can be a water stop, too! and it had phone service.... at least at the first campsite in (site #6, i think!)

OR..... you can ride down to luckie park.... then make the long climb twice (once with the group and once to get back home! oh wait.... you have to end up at the park so you can drive to edchada's for margaritas!

but seriously.... i've seen the threads with the comments about the heat at other rides.... and if you don't want heat... we'll most likely have to start by 7..... in the later spring and all summer i start at first light out here to beat the heat... and i'm used to it!

See, now you got the right kinda thinking going on.:D Last week my wife suggested I sell some of my fishing stuff and buy another bike, I couldnt believe it. I had to ask if she was feeling alright.:eek: I mean Ive only had the fixie for a couple of weeks now. :D

we can actually do a couple additional things.... we can add on a trip down to cholla gardens either before or after the climb to key's view.... or we can continue on through the park (will be about the same distance but without the final downhill on the way back....)

we can discuss that when it gets closer to april..... it all really depends on what YOU all want to do cuz we can do this ride anytime......

what we did last time was out and back to key's view.... it's fun.... and it's pretty (yes.... the desert is pretty!)

and we can terrorize edchada's again, if you want! (ginormous margaritas for all!)

Oh, don't get me wrong. I eat in front of the TV when I watch it, which is almost NEVER. Usually I'm at my table on my laptop - on HERE - eating dinner. :p :D
