Classic & Vintage - Bike Shop Concours

In celebration of their 50th anniversary, Cupertino Bike Shop held a bike exhibition today. People were invited to display their classic & vintage bikes. Any bike up to the 80's was allowed. There were some wonderful bikes: Schwinn Paramount, Hetchins, Cinelli, Richard Sachs, Rene Herse, Masi, de Rosa, Colnago, Bianchi, Gios, Zeus, and even a Confente.

That Confente is to die for.
The Baylis is interesting. Was that his Hetchins inspired
bike? have you seen any of his other stuff? wow.
here is a pic of a Curt Goodrich, painted by Brian Baylis,
similiar to my eyes (Kirk Pacenti lugs if anyone cares).
I really need to stay away from events like this,
I could find my wallet significantly lighter.

Marty Marty, not to worry, there wasn't (as far as I know) anything for sale. The most numerous items were lots of Cinelli's that were built up by Spence Wolf (original owner of Cupertino Bikes) with Phil Wood hubs.

The Confente was made for a fellow named Patrick Edwards. The original bill of sale was still with the bike. The stem was also pantographed with "P. Edwards".

If your keyboard can take it, I can post some more pictures from home this evening. :)

I love the way wood rims look.

Not long after the Sept. 11 attacks a beautiful and original Oscar Watsyn (of Schwinn Paramount renown) 1930s 6 Day Racer appeared on eBay. Starting bid was, IMO, very reasonable for that bike but the economic conditions were, of course, terrible and the bike went unbid. I still kick myself. The bike wasn't cheap but I've certainly spent money on worse things.

How often do you get a chance at a bike like that or at one of those pictured above?
