I might just do that at some point, considering that an RR1.1/240s front wheel is 80 grams lighter than the Fulcrum... Then I'll have the nicest "spare wheels" in the entire van. :D

The level of Dr. Pete bike schwag is starting to make my back hurt MORE than it already does.
The only possible remedy is more bike schwag for ME.
Don't you agree Dr. Pete? By the way, my name is also Peter. God the irony is friggin killing me.
Not really. When I get an actual life, I'll come here to post so you know. Wait, maybe not.

Congratulations Dr Pete on your new arrival. With the new arrival comes added responsibility. You have to show your new addition a lot of love and attention. There is always the possibility that your wife will feel a little jealous of the new addition and experience a little initial depression. Just remember to show them equal affection.
Now that my kids are out of the house I too am thinking of adopting from the Cycle-ops nursery. I think it would bring me great joy! :D

Honestly, of all the pretty schwag on that bike, the most valuable additions to actually making it faster have been:
1. A real training plan (trainingpeaks.com)
2. Power Meter (first Polar, then PowerTap)
3. WKO+
The rest is nice, but pure bling by comparison.

ah hah...the secret to DrPete is out. It is not the Pinarello, the beautiful new, (understanding) wife, the years of academia or genetic ability. Now that I know the secrets I too may be able to join the ranks of the road rash warriors.
Regardless, I still like the schawg and the power tap!

Yeah, it could be like that scene from "American Flyers" when "the Cannibal" is riding David Sommers near the edge of the cliff... :D
BTW...trivia bit about this movie...the girl who played the hitchhiker that later became David's girlfriend is Alexandra Paul who later did the Ironman....and a lot of other stuff...like Baywatch...

American Flyers...
Well, I did my first ride last night on the trainer, and my first impression of the PT SL is very, very good. The power readings are very consistent and much smoother across different gears than the polar, but all in all I'm surprised at how consistent the polar was.
As an added bonus, I threw in a couple quick sprints and the PT gave me a couple hundred bonus watts! Where the Polar never caught a 10- or 15-second sprint, I was actually able to hit 1197 watts max and 1141 for my 5-second power! Woohoo! I'll have to see what those numbers do out on the road, but I'm sure glad I was producing more power than what my Polar was saying in those efforts...
The vitals-- I was supposed to ride a rolling course and do long climbs at CP12 and short ones at CP1, so I jacked the front wheel up and went for it. Looks like I succeeded based on VI...
Duration: 1:07:37 Work: 818kJ
TSS 100.4 (0.944)
Norm. Power 284
VI 1.41
Max 1197W, Avg. 202W
Can't wait to get on the road... although it's snowing today, so it might be another trainer ride tonight...

Wait. What's wrong with bicycle bling? This is BIKE FORUMS, not the movie '300'. I thought the whole friggin POINT was the friggin bling.
And if it's not, stop with all the 8 x 10 glosssy color photos of PowerTap hubs, Zipp wheels and FSA K wing bars already.
But you never will, will you you hopeless pathetic gear-obsessed Amex wielding WEENIES??? You can Friel youselves until your VO2 Max is better than Indurain's and you'll still be incurable, terminal, interminable GEAR GLUTTONS.
And Dr. Pete, you are at the top of the Gear Geek Heap. I would be if business was better this year, but it's not so far, so I have to live vicariously through YOU. But the year is young my little weenies, the year is young.
My Zipps await.

No CRI / System six upgrade weenie?
Cannondale doesn't do 'upgrades' and I don't like their new component mix offering at all.
Nope, I'm very happy with my Six13. I'm investing in a set of Zipp 404's later this year. They'll make me faster than any other piece of gear I can possibly buy. And they'll transfer to my NEXT road bike. You know the 2009 Cannondale Seven14 with TWELVE SPEED Dura Ace that weighs less than the NEW UCI weight limit of 14 lbs.
It never ends. Particularly if you hang around this stupid place, which for idiots like me is like a drug flophouse for a crack ho.
