I'm thinking of upgrading the rear shock on my Prophet from the Manitou Swinger 3-way and it seems that the Fox DHX may be a good option for me. The DHX Air 5.0 offers bottoming resistance and pro-pedal which would suit me well since I use my bike as a crosscountry/trails bike. Anyone out there using one of these? What do you like or not like about this shock?

Thanks,
Mike

hmm, I always wonder the difference between a Fox Float and Fox DHX and its uses. Good topic you made mcoomer

Mike is the manitou air or spring?

i am sure you will like the spring if you are coming off air...that is of course if you're adept to suspension changes.

i think i am going to put some projects on hold and shoot for a FS this summer for when i move. i will be using springs front and rear for sure. most likely an Ohlin in there rear. :D

Actually, the Swinger is the 3-way air sprung shock and I'm looking at the DHX Air. I don't ride hard enough to use a coiled shock so I'm looking at staying with air shocks. It just seems to me that the DHX would give me more adjustability and being a FOX should be a definite upgrade.

Cylinder size. DHX is bigger, allowing more flow, making it more durable under duress.

You don't need to ride hard to enjoy the "plushness" of coils. I love their small bump performance. You would pick up a lot of weight with a coil though.

The DHX has soooo many adjustments, I'd be in "tinkering heaven". I'm more set-it-and-forget-it, so I went Van R.
