Is it cleat movement, the cleat rubbing against the pedal? If so a little wax lube will usually stop it.

Yup. Spray some type of lube onto the platform where the cleat rests. Should stop the squeak. Worked for me.

you should also check if your cleats are worn. worn-out cleats tend to squeak quite a bit...

i sprayed some WD-40 on them and it just made them slippery.... Is there something I'm missing? My cleats aren't worn.

Wd40 is primarily kerosene, a good penetrant but not so great a lube. If you have a stub of candle, rub it into all the places the pedal and cleat rub each other. It, the wax will stay there does not draw dirt and is an OK lube for this purpose.
I have several pairs of Looks and do not have any big problems with squeaking. You may have a joint misalignment that makes your foot pivot a lot or your cleats might not be lined up right and are forcing some rotation.
Do use the red or black cleats? The black cleats do not have any float and maybe they could be trying to relaese the pedal. I have all ways used the red cleats.

I use frogs. They started squeaking so I sprayed some of my typhoon lube in the hole on te side. The squeak got better, but not for long. Recently I took my bike into the LBS for it's spring overhaul. When I got it back, I noticed that the frogs had a small amount of black grease oozing out. I guess the LBS lubed them with something much thicker than oil. Now they spin better and don't squeak. Next time I'm the LBS I'll ask what they use.

mike,

Any good bike grease (read Phil woods) will do the
trick. Speedplay sells a luber that injects grease
into the grease ports of the pedals.

White Lightening lube works great on pedals.

yup candle wax is great ,if you don't have a candle though , a sliver of old dry soap or any soap does a fair good job until it rains anyway. I 'spose then they will be squeaky clean :) Sorry:p
