Mountain - Plains - What are we doing....

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
....this weekend? The best weekend of the year so far and no one has come up with a plan for a group ride? Don't leave it up to the n00b. Let's go peoples! :D

I'm riding Lookout Mountain Saturday with RMCC (They welcome guests if you'd like to come along!)
Sunday I'm riding by myself down around Highlands Ranch and going to get a set of Aero bars. Gonna be a nice easy recovery-type ride. :)
You're welcome to come along on either or both.
The lookout Mountain ride starts in Golden, and I'll probably take the C-470 trail around from where I'm at to Highlands Ranch and back. Easy flat miles for recovery.
I am looking for something on sunday afternoon.

I am in for Sunday as well. My wife is off this weekend. If worst comes to worst, I'm going to steal cycommute's map for the ride he was trying the last two weeks and ride it myself. Either that or wander around aimlessly. :p
I have yet to develop any desire to ride with any clubs, too dang busy at work.
Well lets hook it up DJ. 1:00pm good for you?

I'd be very happy for some company on the C-470 - 285 trail loop if you're interested... starting in West Lakewood/Golden area? I can set up a map and get you the distance... I think it's about 40 miles, fairly flat and 90%+ trails.
I'm in for Sunday. Saturday I'm headed to Bicycle Village's Tent Sale in Aurora, my girlfriend is looking to get a roadbike. :)
So BM, I'll ride with you on Sunday. Is that cool??

I can meet up with pwnt or with the rest of everyone if pwnt would like. After all he did reply first :p
Now if I can remember how to drive a car..... :p
I will be there. Bike is working flawlessly. Replaced the shimano chain with a SRAM chain so there should be no more derailluer removal. *finger crossed
Do we have a time in mind. I work till noon (as you know)
Snow when you go to the tent sale say HI to Bernie for me. He works at the Westy storebut the are borrowing him for the tent sale. We're not riding saturday because of it.

Hrmm... It's a 60 mile ride if you start from Cold Springs Park 'n Ride... can knock it down quite a bit if we start and finish at the Ken Karyl Park 'n Ride, if you think the 60 miles is too much. I'm also planning the stop in Highlands Ranch to pick up my Aero bars (The guy is holding them for me! :) :) I love craigslist! )

I'm game for whatever. My lower back has been annoying me lately but I can always ignore it. :p
Stupid core exercises should kick in someday. ugh

Is the Cold Springs Park n Ride on Union??
BM we could just ride over together since we're neighbors? :)

Looks like there's two separate rides going on... Just you and me, Snowy? We can leave right from our places.
To avoid confusion we can take our route discussion private... if anyone is interested in joining us, PM me.

Club Hypoxia is doing a climbing metric out of Boulder on Sunday. Old Stage Road then up to Jamestown. 2 loops I think.. Wanna come hurt with us? Everyone is welcome.
Let me know if interested & I'll post details. :)

Zin: I'd be up for that if I didn't have to be in Highlands Ranch between 12 and 3 to pick up my aero bars. So I'm riding south, and I'm taking THEM *points* with me! *cackles evilly*
Meet at Cold Springs Park 'n Ride at 11:00 .... It's on the southeast corner of the intersection of 6th and Union/Simms
Route will be south-west along Alameda, around the C-470 trail to the Platte River trail (With a short detour to pick up my aero bars! :) :) :) :) ) then up the Platte river to 285, back west then north.
Distance: 60.3 miles, 3,300 feet of climbing.
Dang... I promise, I'll hook up with the Bikeforums group one of these days! At this rate, Club Hypoxia is planning training rides for every Sunday.
I'm on-call Saturday, so will take Elvis (my dog) out for a hike someplace within cell range.

I'm planning on riding pretty much every Saturday with RMCC (At least every Saturday that I can get to the rides... kinda hard for some of them with no car)
What's Hypoxia doing the NEXT Sunday??? (The 18th?)
BMC - We normally figure out the next week's ride at the end of each weeks ride. For instance, after the Lookout ride from my house, we chatted about what to do this coming Sunday. One never knows who will chime up to host a ride from their part of the front range.
I'll post when I know for sure. We also have some more formal training rides scheduled which are listed on http://www.clubhypoxia.com
Would be great to get BF&BJ folks together for rides together! :)

I am going to die Monday and maybe even Sunday. :p
I've been riding my full commute Mon, Wed, and Friday of 56 miles. I guess that is one way to prepare for my first century.

03-06-07, 09:14 PM
I've been doing 24 miles a day 4x a week 15 on Fridays, and 75+ on weekends. This weekend I have a 45 mile ride scheduled with RMCC and the 60 mile ride on Sunday. :) I'm planning on doing a lot more than just centuries this summer, though... I'm signing up for brevets...
I'm planning on all three of the populaires (116-122 km each), the entire Super Randonneur series (200, 300, 400 & 600 km rides) plus an additional 200 or 300 km brevet. Oh... and did I mention that all but one of those rides is BEFORE the Triple Bypass... I have no idea what I'll do after July... Start training for next year, I guess.
The rides I have scheduled will qualify me for:
200km brevet medal
300km medal
400km medal
600km medal
Super Randonneur medal
These rides would also qualify me for the 1200k brevets, like the Paris-Brest-Paris, though I won't be able to do it.
These medals are all internationally santioned, I'd also qualify for the 1000k total distance medal through RUSA, and the additional populaires will get me the 2000k.
NEXT year I hope to complete a 1200k brevet... my goal is to do it in a time that would qualify me for RAAM. (Race Across AMerica)
So... who's up for some riding? Info about brevets (http://www.rmccrides.com/brevets.htm)
I guess I wont be going. I work til noon. This group thing just isn't working out for me. :(
bmclaughlin807

We can adjust... if we leave Cold Springs at Noon, we could hit Morrison Park 'n Ride about 12:45, pick up any late comers there (And anyone that doesn't wanna do 60 miles with us... that would probably cut it down to around 40 miles)
Not trying to leave you out, man. :) (Really... I wanna torture EVERYONE equally! :p )

Wackjob! I mean that in the most sincere way possible. :p
I rode 6-7 days a week almost 300 miles each week last summer. It took months for me to recover and was quite literally burned out. For me recovery days are a must.
I'll meet you guys at the Morrison Park & Ride @ 12:45.

I'll cut down on my commute if I need the recovery time. To work though is an easy ride, and I can cut out most of the climbing and 2/3rds of the distance on the way back by catching the bus part way.
I'll meet you guys at the Morrison Park & Ride @ 12:45.
I guess we'll see you there. :)

I wasn't that smart. I ran myself into the ground completely unaware of what I was doing. d'oh!
I am playing it more patiently this year. Once I can handle the 3 days of 56 miles I will add more. Weekend recreational rides without the kid would be a good thing every once in a while.

See y'all Sunday! :) :)

I'll start making rides when snowboard season is over!
I don't think I am going to make it to this one guys, I am feeling really bad. I don't know if I'm coming down with something or if burning the candle is catching up with me. Either way, yeah, I don't feel good.
Anyway, enjoy the ride and I'll try to get ya on the next one.
Sorry. :(

The ride was a success! Aero bars are mounted, I did a couple miles on them and loved them. Thanks Snowy and DataJunkie!

Pwnt, it wasn't hard it was just the amount of miles for me. I haven't done anything more then 20 or so miles this year. So putting down 50+ was alittle much for me:)
