I'an searching fore some high-quality Schwinn Homegrown pictures.

I'am just working on a 1996 Red one and a Blue Metallic 1999 one.

I have the 1996, 1997, 1998, and 1999 catalogs with Homegrown pictures and specs I can scan.

Which models do you have?

The 1996 models were the Homegrown Factory Suspension, Homegrown Suspension XT, Homegrown Factory (hardtail), Homegrown Factory XT (hardtail), Homegrown ESP (hardtail), Homegrown XT (hardtail), Homegrown LXT (hardtail).

The 1999 models were the Homegrown Straight 8 (suspension), Homegrown Factory Team (hardtail), Homegrown 4 Banger All Mtn (suspension), Homegrown 4 Banger (suspension), Homegrown Factory Suspension, Homegrown Factory (hardtail), Homegrown Pro (hardtail), Homegrown Elite (hardtail), and Homegrown (hardtail).

Thanks for the comments, the Serial of the Red one is: 96B E00047 L I don't know exactly which modell it is, but I'am sure it's a hardtail^^

The other one is a hardtail too, it will be mine in a few weeks, than I can post the serial too.

I'am sorry that I don't know the exact modells but I'am espacially interested in pictures of the special-colured ones.

In Germany it is hard to find Informations about when which modell was made.

I've scanned and uploaded the 1996 Homegrown hardtail catalog pages. I'd like to have a few choice words with the layout artist who thought the photo backgrounds would look cool; they make the catalog more difficult to read and don't add any value.

Nice bikes. I know a guy who had a Homegrown from the '90's, it served him well, and he's hard as heck on bikes-

I hope you won't hate me, if I tell you that I'am going to create a Race-Machine out of this frame...... It should reach under 8KG if it is completed.


The 1999 Homegrown frame will be pure classic: Paul parts, Cook Bros Cranks and XTR shifter, also Bullseye Hubs and a Tune seatpost.

No, I won't hate you. :D

In fact, I think it's great that you're resurrecting bullet-proof lightweight frames like the Homegrown hardtails and putting modern lightweight components on them. As far as I'm concerned, you're taking a classic and making it better.

Thanks, well biked. Most of what I know is through osmosis from my dad over a thirty year period, not through any conscious effort on my part. I've also learned an awful lot hanging out here over the past year and a half. :D

Your frame has the "Homegrown Factory" decal, so it was built with the fully butted Easton tubeset rather than the generic 6061 tubes used in the "Homegrown" frames. You've got a winner.

Yehaaa, it will look gorgeous with Paul and Bullsyeye parts. The only question is: Which COOK's shall I use?

I think the F Cranks in Black will look the best.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but where did you manage to find such an outstanding example of the Homegrown Factory? I've been searching for one for years and am very jealous, Phillipp.

I have a bass boat red homegrown hardtail with lx/xt and a judy. it's my wife's bike, if you want pics I can dig it out and snap some off for you. I think yours is one of the Yeti made models.

Thought I would chime in here:

This is my Homegrown I got as a frame only from Schwinn in 97', built it and raced it till 2001 when I retired.

Currently on the block forsale, but thought I'd share the pics, one of the best bikes I have ever ridden!
