Classic & Vintage - Peugeot US Express, revived!

Well, I went ahead and meditated on the frames and the Us Express was begging, with its light frame weight and relaxed geometry....

Here she is, currently set on 38/16, but I'll probably make it 42/16 before I sell (someone already wants it, or one like it, after a test ride)- nashbar baldie slicks, koolstops, and nothing else.

Such a sweet, nimble, and comfortable ride! Very few bikes really acheive the zen perceptive Void state for me, but this is one of them. Right off, it's a mind meld. Or a no-mind meld. Whatever, i don't actually speak Buddhist, I just do it on a bike.

Oh, and final weigh in without having installed clips is a flat 25 pounds according to bathroom scale.

Stick a pair of deep fenders on it and sweep-back bars, and you have a lightweight "modern" DL-1 with 26" wheels.

He's going to put a bigger chainring on - hence the chain sag. What a lovely and strange combination.

It looks nice, but I think that comparing it to a DL-1 is a bit of a stretch! I've got an Orient Express hanging from the rafters that I'm trying to decide what to do with. It's a Japanese-made Peugeot, but it has that same comfortable geometry.

The hcain isn't adjusted firmly yet, yeah. I have been going through my piles hoping to find a 42, but.... well, I live in flatland anyway.

I wouldn't compare it to a DL1 in build, but in idea and purpose it's close. It might even get a sprung saddle. I kinda like the superlight straight bars, but roadsterbars might be fun. To fit me, I'd need to add 3cm to the neck. (and, of course, this means the CB-1 is being built up as a 7 speed RD ride, with stache bars)

I'd definitely do an orient express up this way, starting with a frame like this, I can see why the SS movement has gotten so much steam!

and, score, I've got a mixte US express frame now - same vintage- to do up for someone else.

yep. NICE NICE ride, but I 1: need money for parts and 2: have another one I'm building for myself with moustache bars.

actually, this brings up a whole thing on flipping. There's one guy in sacto who seems to grab EVERY decent bike out there and flip them in hours (no time to even tune them up) for 3-8 times the price. It feels slimy to me - but it might be feeding his kids. Annoyed me last week because there was a 62cm bridgestone 300 I was going to grab for my father in law that he got and flipped for $200 more.

I feel like I'm putting something into bikes I sell, but.....I'm a crappy capitalist.

But yeah that kind of it crappy, I mean if you're going to be selling on craigslist, don't get your bikes from craigslist. Also the prices are so damn high now, now everyone thinks "oh this bike is this much, my bike must be a lot too", it's a vicious cycle, someone needs to inject some cheap bikes to break it.
BTW yours is priced well.
