General Cycling Discussion - New Beetle Drivers?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

DH and I are thinking about buying a VW New Beetle, but the thought crossed my mind that I didn't know how I was going to tote my bike around with it (have a 4Runner, but want to be able to use the bug, too).
So, anyone know anything about putting a rack on those things? I really don't want to put a roof rack on. Will a normal strap on truck rack work with these? I'll only ever be carrying 2 road bikes (which will match the beetle color we're wanting, come to think of it... cool!)
Thanks for any ideas,
H

Van't help you mucvh with specifics, but I do know that I have seen pics in catalogs of trunk/hatch mounted bike racks on the backs of new beetles - so that's an option.

Thule has racks for the bug, Yellowbikes was a recumbent importer that used bugs to transport there bikes to shows, they would put 10 bikes on each of there bugs.
