What is the easiest way to get to the Queen Mary from downtown Long Beach. I was just there in a car but I didn't see a bike lane or sidewalk on the Queensway Bay Bridge. It looked pretty scary to bike across. Is there any other option? Would be greatful for any advice.

Hi,

AFAIK there is only one way to the Queen Mary. I know that it doesn't look very bike friendly but it is a relatively short distance.

Actually Queensway Bridge is listed on the LA Metro bike map as having a bike lane. No idea how ridable it is, though.

Aside from the bridge, the only other option is the highway! Why do you want to bike to the ship anyway? Unless you have a specific reason to go there by bike, I would stop before the bridge and enjoy the view from the aquarium area.

that area is gang infested with pedaling cholitos, they feed on carbon and zicral combo!

watch out for the scary bikazaurus in the bushes! it is really really scary!!!

I'm actually bicycling through Long Beach (which I've done several times on trips down the coast) and just thought it might be nice to stay at Queen Mary, just to say I've done it.

I've done it several times and each time I wonder why I did it. Good luck.

Go to google maps or a place like www.bikely.com that uses it. Go to Long Beach and go to the closest shot of the Queensway Bridge you can. The bike/ped path shows up as the slightly whiter area on the east side of the bridge. The coastal bike path takes you under the bridge. Stop just before you go under the bridge and take the path up onto the MUP over the bridge. It costs to go onto the ship. I did it once for a ballroom dance. Otherwise, yes, best viewed from across the channel.

Our bike club rides over there once in a while. From behind the Long Beach aqarium go over the queenway bridge. It has a PEDS/bikelane. We usually go to the coast Hotel, next to the queenmary, for breakfast. It has a great view from the restaurant.
Good luck
