Just got a dispatch from my club. Since it was addressed to "Members and Friends" I figured it wasn't supposed to be kept a secret...

If you are registered for, or plan to register for the Solvang Century on Saturday, March 10th - you are invited to ride any or all of the course with Ivan Dominguez (winner of Stage 7 at the 2007 Tour of California),Sean Sullivan (one of the 7-rider lead pack in Stage 7) and Team Owner, Sean Tucker.

The riders will leave from the Royal Scandinavian Hotel at 8:00am and plan to finish at approximately 2:00pm - a rather leisurely ride for the Team! If you would like to join the team, please arrive at the Royal Scandinavian Hotel no later than 7:45am on Saturday, and look for the red, white and blue Toyota-United jerseys!

Nope, I will be checking in on Friday evening though...
We have a room in Lompoc for friday night.

Not sure what time I will be at the check in on friday...probably around 6 ish..?

Ok thats cool. I just lucked out when I got the registration I got the guys room in Solvang too :) Glewis333 is going to join us too. The more the merrier. So whoever else is riding let us know.

My dad was Danish and I don't remember any of the food he liked as being easy on the digestive system :) I'll PM you my cell, it'd be fun to hook up.

Driving up Saturday morning with a bunch of riders from Santa Clarita, we are going to try to start by 7:00. I'll just keep my eyes open for everyone. Love to stay for dinner on Saturday, but my daughter is coming down from St. George for the weekend and we have dinner reservations in Santa Clarita Saturday night.

Hi fella's/gals. I live in Buellton and thought I'd chime in on some dinner suggestions for you...I've eaten at every restaurant in the area.

I'd say the best atmosphere would be Mattei's Tavern located in Los Olivos (On the 154). They have the best steak in the area. Dress attire is moderately well dressed to casual. Expect anywhere from $17.00 to $45 a plate. Also, one of the best wine selections in the area.

Red Barn is OK. I just ate there last Sunday night and I paid $34 for a crappy piece of Filet Mignon...however it's hit and miss. It has more of a red checkered table cloth setting...certainly nothing to dress up for. Price is a little less expensive than Mattei's.

AJ Spurs located in Buellton is a Disneyland-Frontierland type of atmosphere. More family oriented but good food. Same price as Mattei's. Would most likely be able to accomidate a large group.

Sushi??? We have a great Sushi place in Buellton called Aru, and trust me...I'm picky. It's expensive but really good. In a shopping center without the shopping center feel...has a good atmosphere. (Just don't get the red haired waiter or you'll be waiting a long time).

Patricks Side Street Cafe in Los Olivos. Really good. I've seen a lot of celebreties in that place. Almost looks like an old saloon and is a very old building (probably was a saloon at one point). Awesome Prime Rib!!! The only reason we don't go there anymore is because the owner's a drunk and talks too much...LOL! Patrick is a nice guy but encourages you to bring wine so he can TRY it and then scam on your significant other.

The Wine Cask in Los Olivos under Fess Parkers hotel. Really good but stuffy and expensive.

One of our personal favs is the Cafe Chardonay in the Ballard Inn. Excellent service, excellent food, and excellent wine...we've never been disappointed. Only thing, if you don't have reservations by now, chances are you won't be dining there. Price is moderately expensive. Very romantic setting for you lovebirds out there.

There's Garopolo's in Santa Yney for Italian but it's hit and miss. Carapolo's one night and Garopolo's the other.

The Vinyard in Santa Ynez is where Lance likes to eat when he's out here. Good food, good setting, but a rather small place.

P.S. I would make reservations at any of the above ASAP. If you need phone numbers or directions let me know, they are all fairly close....everything is in the Santa Ynez Valley.

:eek: No Sushi!! 100 mile bike ride/raw fish--I don't think so :rolleyes: We probably should try to get a consensus though. Maybe there is a Steak/Sushi/Veggie house that does not serve Danish food, restaurant out there :p Thank God I'm not the "planner." :)
