yeah, hopefully I'll be able to actually see what some of you NY kids really look like... just take Metro north straight into New Haven. $30 round trip and you can take your bikes on the train.

Last year, KoNE conflicted with the Zelda Race. April 1st is a Sunday so I think I may be down for this. I believe you go points if you showed up with your Zelda card.

shrug. take it up with the organizers. they also snubbed the biggest city in CT (where i was living), so i held a grudge, but it was more for the novelty of having a grudge than feeling bad.

I'd like to get a good taste of what is fun about the city in New Haven also any must see dives? We will either try to find a place to crash on saturday night or just come in for the day.

I'm sure there will be an after party, but I haven't heard where yet. If you want places to check out then try Rudy's for beer and Mamoun's for falafel ($2.50 each!). I'll post something on the New Haven cycling board to see if anyone has floor/couch space.

We are trying to make the trip as fun as possible so we have not decided if we are going to go in on the saturday or just for the sunday. I think it would be awesome to bike around the city, go to some dive bars and meet some new haven bike people, so we will see. We are thinking about renting a car so you could probably get in on it.

Sorry I missed this thread for so long... This race is going to rule so hard. KONE was a freaking blast and nearly killed me last year. Everything in New Haven is awesome. Beers afterwards, but in moderation since I have to drive home and work the next day. :)

As far as the after party goes, I haven't heard any official news yet, but there's a bar called "Bar" that does free shows every sunday night

aw, that show's gonna be rad! i've seen parts 'n labor once, and it was a whole lot of really loud unrealized potential. kind of a bummer, but that was probably two years ago. i bet they rock pretty hard now.

Just a reminder to you NY peeps... If you're coming in Saturday night, you can only buy beer untill 9:00 (8:00 for liquor I think) and bars are only open untill 2:00 AM. Also, you can only get alcohol in bars on Sunday, so buy/bring whatever you need Saturdat night.

As for the race, there have been a couple hints posted:

1. There will be 6 checkpoints and 3 additional "challenges"

2. If you do the course correctly it should be about 20 miles. 2 of the checkpoints were in last year's KoNE alleycat.
