Can anyone give me an idea what year this Trek might be? It can't be 3 or 4 years old.

Thanks

I guess around '87, maybe he's using dog years...

I think they changed to 1200 model # to 1220 in the early 90's, so older than that. Visit http://www.vintage-trek.com for help. Look in the brochure section.

Trek model 1200 was made until this year. I bought a 1200 in 2005 and they sold a 2006, but it is not listed in the current model year.

To answer the original question. It looks older than 3 or 4 years old. A friend of mine just bought a 2300 and it is almost that same color. I think it is a 1997.

my reference to the model # change was referring to the era this bike was made. Note the DT shifters, puts it older than a '97

I think the 1200 had a double crank and the 1220 had a triple. Also, the vintage Trek web site is pretty much limited to the steel frame bikes. The 1200/1220's were Al and aren't given much coverage.

HR, you're right about the 1200/1220. My '94 1220 came to me as just a frame, now SS, and I didn't realize they had the 1200. The brochures usually have the frame paint colors listed if not a pic. could still help.
