Nah was arguing with a friend here thats reading a book...I was sure it was before but the book had a jumbled way of writing it that wasnt certain.

Impossible. The very early origins of the haiku, a poetic form known as "renga" didn't emerge until the 15th century.

Brandy thanks for your help...One of the questions was about the devolution thing and I searched through the whole book and I couldnt find it :p, what you said made sense in the context of the question so I went with it!

Let's just say that the poets I was referring to were ahead of their time. They made women want them, and made men envy them. They were cast out of a society that was ill-prepared for the haikuvolution, went underground, honed their craft, homogenized it for the masses, evolved the 5-7-5 syllabic meter (it used to be 6-8-6 <---visionary!), packaged it in a neat little box, and called it 'renga'.
