Southern California - Tour de Baldy Saturday March 10, 2007

I will be doing Tour de Baldy this Saturday. This is a difficult training ride not social. There are plenty of bailout points so riders can join in and go home at anytime. If you want to climb then here you go.

The route is as follows:

Beginning at Encanto Park

1. As a warm up we CLIMB up Hwy 39 to East Fork and then up GMR.

2. We descend done GMR to Glendora and then CLIMB up GMR (gate to gate)

3. We continue CLIMBING GRR to Baldy Village

4. We descend Baldy Rd and then CLIMB up to Baldy Village

5. We descend GRR to GMR to Glendora and then back to Encanto Park.


Start time is pending on childcare arrangements should be between 830-9. I will edit post with start time. So who is coming?

We will be on our way to Crystal Lake. Its a good place for Ornithologists. See ya up there someplace.

This weekend has no bearing on the 21st. Unfortunately, whether I can make it to Joshua Tree will be determined by factors that are as yet not known and not within my control. I do really hope to make it, though. Haven't rode with you and Sir-Lance for way too long.

Please bring a third water bottle to carry in your jersey. Brandy will stash a couple gallons of water at the base of GMR in Glendora so we can refuel there. Isn't she the best?

It is too hard for me to guess when I will meet you. I haven't done this ride before and can't really estimate.

I'm not sure if that route means we are likely to cross paths tomorrow, or not... but we will keep an eye out for y'all!

If I'm up for it afterward, I might trace your route backward and meet up, even if only for long enough to say hello before you all drop me. After all, I have to do my host duties since Baldy is my home climb by virtue of the fact that my parents live two blocks away from the Claremont end of Baldy Rd.

Just in case it's of use, I'll PM you my cell phone number. And out on the road, I'll be readily identified as the only person in the world who rides a Cervelo R3 and wears a SoCal BikeForums jersey.

Oh and I climbed Torrey Pines outside in 6:10 this morning. Avg 328 watts 4.7 w/kg. for the non-power geek types it was an avg of 14.0 mph
