Touring - from Brooklyn, New York to...? One week tour.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi everybody, I'm planning my second tour (the first was a loop from Birmingham, Alabama to Nashville, Tennessee and back), but this will be my first unsupported tour (except I still won't be cooking). I only have 5-7 days, and what I want is NATURE. I live and work in the city, and I need to see some trees, lakes, and a few animals. That's my priority - I don't care about how many miles I go, I just want to get away for one week and do some riding and camping. I'll be doing it this spring. EDIT - I'd also consider taking a bus if it would help me get somewhere nicer.
Where should I go? I've heard a lot of good things about Pennsylvania? What are some resources I should look for to help me decide the route?
Thanks so much!

Trailside camping, easy access to NY,long enough to enjoy yet not too long to compleate in your time frame!! And enough towns so one won't starve!

That looks like a really nice route, thanks a lot for suggesting it, but it's a bit out of my way, I'm not sure I'd want to spend 15 hours on buses.
This must be a common question people have, trying to get out of New York... Where do you think I should start looking?

I did NYC to Montreal via Vermont last fall. Took us 7 days (6 nights) and was awesome. If you're interested in more details, PM me!
