Google and the search option turned up nothing.

I just acquired most of an old Cannondale. It's a very small frame, 44 cm. C-C. When I got it, it had:
Suntour VP 130 triple crankset
Suntour XC FD
Shimano light action RD
Shimano light action shifters
Tange Levin headset
Dia-Compe 500 GX brake calipers

From what I can tell it's a touring frame. It has rack mounts and fits a 27" wheel. It came with a steel Tange fork, with two eyelets, and another set a couple of inches up on the blades.
The Serial Number doesn't fit the profile of the others I've seen, it's CC18746.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I checked my '86 catalogue and it sounds like an ST400 (sport touring).
Brakes, headset and wheels size match. The '86 ST400 had a double crank and SunTour driveline.
Are you sure it's a Cannondale? The serial # you list seems wrong. Did you get the # off the BB or the chainstay?

I'm positive its a Cannondale, and I got the number of the BB. The first letter could be a "G". I'll try to get some photos later tonight.

OK, then check for a number on the chainstay. It should be on the bottom, near the rear dropout.
The 11 digit number should reveal age etc, as posted above.
Otherwise...I got nuthin'!

I found the '86 catalog online just know, and you're right that does look like the one. But this business about the SN is still puzzling me. I did manage to get a somewhat visible picture of the SN.

Again it says CC18746. As for the chainstay, there is nothing there except a cable stop.

I just got an E-mail back from Cannondale and here is what they had to say about the SN:

The original Cannondale serial numbers featured two letters: AA, BB, or CC respective to the year of manufacture. The frame that you have was handcrafted right here in Bedford , Pennsylvania , USA in 1985. The attachments are for the 1986 model year. We hope that this information will be helpful to you.

I'm still waiting for a reply about the rest of the numbers in the SN, I'll keep everyone posted.
