Classic & Vintage - 18 Speed Omega Deluxe Mountain Bike

Once again I turn to the gurus of the cycling realm for knowledge on a bike. Can anyone tell what model of Omega frame this is? It was a police auction item that had every distiguishing mark taken off of it and the only thing I know is it has KT Hubs and Shimano Tourney gears and shifters. Also whoever had it tried to scrub off the numbers on the bottom of the bike but I think they are 6080895 & 2896331413 if that helps to determine anything. I thank all who might reply.

It's the deluxe. good for jumps not so good for landings though

I have one of these bikes as well. It is identical except is has a small white tag under the logo on the steering head that says "Made in Taiwan R.O.C."

OMG, !!!I have the same bike! It's the "Omega Deluxe" Made in Korea. On the down tube it indicates the model number; MT1800. On the top tube it says 18 speed mountain bike in red lettering.The High Ten steel frame is fully lugged with beautiful craftsmanship. 21" frame, 44" wheelbase, black paint with red lettering. 31.25" stand over height. The old school cantilevers brakes say STAR on them, just like first generation Dia Compes with actual motorcycle levers. The Wellgo aluminium pedals look straight off a BMX bike. I would estimate this bike to be from the birth of the mountain bike craze, 1983 or 1984. The Thumb shifters are Shimano matched up to a Shimano Tourney rear derailleur and Shimano front derailleur. A "LUNCHI" 3 piece triple crank is provided but instead of it being made out of aluminum it's solid steel. Steel handle bars and steel rims make this bike a heavy weight, compared to the Specialized first generation Stump jumper, but if you change out the rims, hubs, bars, and steel seat post, you can get some weight savings.The seat is total crap, but replace it with a Brooks B-17 Leather and you're all set to go. The frame has a ride like a Rolls Royce. This bike also had full reflector package and kickstand. I intend to strip it down to the frame and build it up racing style. The Aluminium stem with a steel quill is super high quality.The frame has full braze ons but no cable stops, so the cables are run with the cable housing for the entire length. It has the big Schwinn styled pie plate spoke protector and chain guard made out of ,... you guessed it, solid steel. The last thing I'll mention is the original old school gum wall tires made by GOLDEN BOY in the size 26 X 2.125 Made in Korea with an inflation pressure of Max 40. Kind of low I think, I'll put 60 in them.(That's equivalent to 400KPA) I weigh 225 pounds so I need all the help I can get. All in all, this bike is a survivor! It's from another time when Hair metal was the rage and you needed a rugged mountain to get you around the college campus. Ah... Back in the day. Totally Retro time machine, I won't throw anything away, i'll keep all of the iron I take off this bike... Fantastic bike!!!

Our bikes are 173 away from each other.

The Gum wall GOLDEN BOY made in Korea tires have a date code of 15 83... 15th week of 1983.
26 x 2.125
The hubs have a date code of L7 -89
So now i'm thinking the bike had new old stock tires installed on it in 1989.
Any way you slice it.... it's damn good bread!!!!
These bikes are true mountain bike history!
