Now that Daylight Savings Time is coming, how will you spend that extra hour? I'm hoping to be able to jump on my bike at 4:30 (after I get off work)and get in a two hour ride every Tuesday and Thursday, then I can cut out the stationary bike at the gym and at home.

I've got several things to which I'm looking forward. Riding after work is on the top of the list. Second will be getting the garden ready.

Now I can get a 2 - 3 hr ride in after work.
Now is the time to ride.

All to soon it will be hot as hell outside.

Boy, the government has this stuff down to a science. Before we go to Daylight whatever time I'm looking at near 0deg weather and its too dark to ride. With one stroke of the pen I get more riding time after work and temperatures in the mid 40's and up.

I will seat the new disc brakes on Sunday, the snow will disappear off the trails by the middle of next week, life will be good.

You "spring forward". So if you want to get up at your usual time, say 7 AM, you have to get up at what was 6 AM so you lose an hour of sleep.

You gain an hour in the fall, when the clock "falls back". That way you get to repeat an hour.

You know, I should not have said this. You were perfectly happy with your "extra hour". Why should I spoil it with facts? Sorry.

That's right, though, Pat. If I had an extra hour, I would sleep in. It ain't going to happen.

The extra daylight hour will not bother me as I have lights on the bike for once I get home rides. All I am waiting for is the wind to drop but we are now into March and what does that bring on the weather stakes?---More bl**dy wind.

Let's face guys, despite all your dreaming about riding after work in the "extra" light you'll have available, most of what you will do will be dictated by a higher authority,The Boss's honey do's! :)

Ride first, work later. No compromise on this matter.

That takes, what, a half hour a week? I'll be ignoring the weeds on 12 acres, only cutting it when I can't stand it anymore.
As for honeydo lists, I learned long ago that I'll be in trouble no matter what I do, so the chores get scheduled around the rides, not the other way around.

The favorite wife & I will get to ride together more since she's usually not home from work until 5 - 5:30 pm. And getting a longer ride after work will be very nice instead of racing sundown to get home (altho we have lights, too). By midsummer, we'll be able to ride until 8:30 pm with easily enough light to be safe.

I am going to put one warm and sunny hour per day in the bank and withdraw it next December, January and February. A one hour warm ride will be quite nice. Anyone want to join me?

For some reason I'm thinking Bill Cosby, snowball fight and "I'm gonna get you, Junior Barnes". Long story, but the punch line was "My mom had cleaned out the freezer". Moral of the story? Use it or lose it, you can't save it for later.

Unfortunately, travel and the time change have joined forced to cheat me of my weekend. I'm in Seattle until Sat evening, fly to St. Louis (home), lose two hours due to time zones, go to bed, lose one hour due to DST, fly to Maryland on Monday, lose one hour to time zone. Damn, lose 4 hours in one weekend.... bummer!

Arizona does NOT go on daylight savings time . . . why mess up your clocks? There is 24 hours in a day . . .

I'm puzzled?? I don't believe I have any extra hour. I wake up when sun shines through window. So guess I'll be waking up an hour later? So when it gets dark it will be an hour later? Eat when I'm hungry. Stores open 24/7. What am I saving again?

I solved the grass mowing problem. Bought the grandkids a new lawn mower and turned that job over to them:D

Yes but when I go to AZ from EST now it is like going to LA, 3 hour time difference. Yuck.

Read a good quote once, can not remeber who. "There are only 2 things once lost that can not be regained, time and your health."

Ride.

There are some nice paths and some very nice residential roads near my office... the opportunity to get out there and cruise is just calling me.

Amazing how new developments tend to have these beautiful smooth streets and so little traffic. Heaven for a cyclist.

That extra hour is just what I need.

Or even the occasional old neightborhood. One near me, Kensington, has only one way in and out, so there is really no "through" traffic. Just folks going home or going to work. So, if I time it right, there's almost no traffic whatsoever. I love the homes in this neighborhood, and I can cruise around it doing many laps and not get bored. Then it's just 2.5 miles to home.

- my favorite time of the year: no snowbirds, no locals, just me, my bike, and four water bottles!
