View Full Version : Whiting Ranch Mt Bike ride, Sat the 10th..
The poor Mt bike has been looking at me longingly, just begging for a ride.
I finally broke down and promissed her that we would go out.
Whiting Ranch, in Foothill ranch, Saturday 8:30 am. ( 10th!)
it's a short 6-7 mile loop that is somewhat technical. It is a really fun trail,
that has great singletrack, a couple short but challenging climbs, and roots/rocks
to navigate over.
There are basically 2 option to consider.
1) Whiting loop, possible twice
2) Whiting to Vutures craig and return.
Anyone care to join me?
Any and all are welcome!!!

Hey, you went the wrong way buddy...it's been in the 80's every day here...we've had a fantastic stay so far, I saw some poor Cyclists (Road and MTB) yesterday on the road to Hana...they were obviously struggling a bit.......it's a pretty hazardous ride going anti-clockwise, plus, the road is blocked half way...
But 34* in NY?? That's inhumane!!
What are you talking about? :p
Thanks!!
Vutures craig? Where is that? I've gone to Whiting => Old Camp but haven't heard of Vutures craig.
On a side note, has anyone tried Black Star lately? I'm kind of toying with the idea of trying that. It's supposed to be near Whiting...

Vultures craig is "The Flag", on the way up to Old camp.
I would do old camp, but do not have the time.
Here is Vulture craig, with Mtblrkr and his big grin!!!

Oh, so that's what its called. We've always referred it to the flag pole..
Was thinking about joining you guys for this ride but are going to be meeting some buddies out at Aliso. Anyone else is more than welcome to join in. Probably doing a route similar to this: fire road, up Mathis, down Meadows, fire road to Cholla, down Rock-it and back to the car.
I rode it today, up Mustard, up Dreaded to the memorial , then back down to Four Corners and down Whiting Rd, hitting all the single track to Portola.

If memory serve me well ( and it may not)..
The Flag was placed there shortly after 9-11 as a remembrance, or in honor of, the fallen.
for the tragedy that took place that day.
One of my employees just called me. seems a truck backed into him
while standing in a parking lot....
So, depending how he feels, I may end up working tomorrow....
I'll know for sure tomorrow AM....
Damn, and hope he's Ok.
