Classic & Vintage - Araya rims

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Anyone know of a good source for NOS clinchers? I found a pair on EBuy. I'd just rather not if it could be avoided. I'm kind of burnt out on bidding.

There are only a few small shops still selling any stock of older rims, and when you find those places you often find out why they still have them when you see the prices. My last clincher rim purchase was from a fellow BF member, who had in turned got them from, you guessed it, ebay.

They're not Araya, but Alfred E. Bike has 27" Alex rims for $11.99

Darwin,
I checked them the last time you posted. They have good prices on rims and a huge selection. There were several other 27" rims that caught my eye.

What's so special about those rims? I've got a set I polished up last night. I bought a Vista Esquire for parts, but didn't end up using anything from it. I lubed and tuned it and figure I'll sell it to recover the time and money I've got in it. (real small frame, I wanted the bars but didn't realize they were small as well) newbie:)
I thought the Weinman alloy rims from my other project bike would be better rims. They don't get as shiny, but I thought the Araya's were chrome?

Nothing so special about them. I don't know what model you have. They would just be the best period/region choice for this bike which has all original stock, speaking of which....
