View Full Version : whoopie!, its 40º, sunny and I'm riding!
Took the day off. Hasn't been this warm in 8-9 weeks. Hope I can get in 20 miles before my fingers/toes turn blue. So I better stay clear of frozen Lake Erie, huh?

It has been sunny and highs in the 60s to low 70s here this week. I only got to enjoy it Tuesday when I took the day off to go to Atlanta for the Ride to the Capitol. Looks like rain on Saturday, but Sunday could be good for a metric century.

Southeast PA to see 50 degrees this Saturday. My car wash should be busy, but I'm going riding with son in law, and possibly daughter. If the two go it will be on their tandem, and hopefully they bring the cart with grandson to slow them down. Otherwise they are too fast for me. Better still is the call for 50 again on Tuesday and in 60s on Wednesday. Hopefully without rain.

As usual the weatherman didn't get the forecast correct. They were predicting high 50's and we hit the mid 60's today:D
I could tell it's been a long time since I rode in warm weather. I made two trips back into the house to shed clothes before I finally settled on a short sleeve jersey, wind breaker and shorts with running tights. I rode the trails along the river in the local metroparks. Even the brown grass, mud and debris along the river bank from recent flooding looked good in the sunshine.
Everybody seemed to be taking advantage of the first day of warm weather. I passed several other riders, kids on skateboards and one elderly gentleman who appeared to be learning to ride a scooter:) He was with two young kids on in-line skates and was having a problem keeping up with them. A good sign of spring was the ice rink being disassembled in the downtown park.
They're predicting rain tomorrow morning but it should clear up my afternoon. If it does I plan on being out there again.
