I wish I could say the same, it's supposed to rain for our race. It doesn't start for another five hours though.

I think the blog is a great idea, especially if you can include some Simon-esque hand-drawn race photos... or, should I say, "drawrings." :D

Here's the crowd amassed at the start to watch... The guy in the middle appears to be Hipcycler--boy, he came a long way to see this one!

The world definitely needs more blogs and DJs.

Drawrings are cool.

Aw, turns out the girl next to him was Meg Ryan, and she left. Now Hip's bummed. ;)

Racing in the rain isn't that bad, just dirty.

Pete, a Simon-esque "drawring" would have window panes showing it was a scene from out of a hotel window. And you'd have to have "prune 'ands." :)

Botto, your depth of detail in the telling is simply stunning.

It's tough for grass to grow over a busy road.

I'd PM you pics, to show you that I actually do have hair, but that'd be creepy. ;)

It didn't rain.

Aren't you in Flanders or some damn place in northern Europe where this would actually be impossible in March or April? Wouldn't the appearance of one racing bike on one Thule rack guarantee 24-36 hours of 48ºF rain and gloom? Just on the cobblestone sections of course.

noord holland.

if it makes you feel better, there were enough puddles on the course for my bike and team kit to get dirty. ;)

Just be happy you have a team kit to race in botto.

Botto, there's a BASEBALL DIAMOND in that park. You're in Holland? What's up with THAT? Maybe baseball is more popular in Europe than we knew.

Did you get lost on that course?

botto
03-10-07, 01:21 PM
P&C

believe it or not, baseball is a reasonably healthy minority sport over here.

the son of a friend of mine was recruited for the youth team of the amsterdam pirates a few years back, and has worked his way up the ranks. he eve went to japan last summer to play. also, believe it or not, there's a football (as in pigskin and shoulder pads) team that plays there.

npt easy to get lost on the course. it's only +/- 2.5 KM long. the red dot is the start/finish. the white oval is a velodrome.

Nobody cares where you finished, botto. What all of bikeforums.net wants to know is this:

Did EURO show up to represent the top 1,000 racers in all of England, and if so, how much damage did he do to the frail ego of Dutch cycling in general?

You must have spent your first half year on bikeforums in the commuting section... Here's an example of that old EURO magic (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=173317).

We'll check back when your smart@ss race report hits 11 or 12 pages and gets locked... :p :D

Sniff (wipe away tear): it crushes me to think of the empty chasm in a BF friend's experience having never known the incomparable Euro.

He is worth researching. Read his past posts. Then report back here and tell us they're not entertaining.

How do you say 'Batter up' in Dutch? You gotta love that: a velodrome and a baseball diamond in the same park. We can only dream....

its not just the velodrome and the ballpark......that road alone is enough to make one envious.......botto is it an actual road or is it a strictly for bikes?

Were there any problems getting across those lanes of traffic to get to the finish line? (At least that's where the red dot appears on my computer.)

I would guess that is Botto's private park where he stages bicycle races and drives his coveted F1 car collection on weekends.
