I think the bike I have purchased might be a size to small the seat post is high as it can go but i feel like I could just do with an inch extra. any body got any ideas?????

If you just purchased it take it back to the shop you got it from and talk to them about it.
If you can't go back to the shop or you did not get it from a shop, you can get seat posts up to 400mm. Just get the size off of the post, it will be near the max line.

How bout a new seat post? You can find them at most retailers. If you really think the bike is too small, then take it back to the shop and see what they think. Try riding the next size up and decide if you really want the bigger size. Then return the smaller one and get the bigger one. How long ago did you buy the bike? Did it come with any return policy? Most shops will work with you, they want your business. You will end up spending as much on extras and upgrades as you do on the original bike (at least I do that) so they want you to be happy with them so you return to their store. Take the bike back, and chat with the shop rats. They are pretty smart folks and are usually very helpful.:beer:

I have two bikes and changed both seatposts to get an extra inch. When I tried a larger size there was not enough room bet top tube and crotch area and I wa too stretched on the bike, so just get a seatpost

A seatpost that's larger than 350mm may need to be special ordered.
If you just purchased the bike, I agree with Rev.Chuck, take it back and tell them about it. Unless the bike's got a lot of abuse, they usually will exchange it for the right size.
