Classic & Vintage - Help identify a Peugeot?

One of my maintenance guys brought an old Peugeot for me to look at. It looks like it has Suntour dérailleurs (the rear says Suntour Cyclone) and Shimano Dura-Ace Brakes. Any ideas?

The decal on the seat tube says Record De Mode if that means anything.

I think it's an early 70's PR10. I'd be certain if I could see a Reynolds 531 main tubes sticker. Those look like first generation Dura Ace brakes. I can't believe how the rear derailer is mounted! Record du Monde means world record. They all say that.

I'll go back out and look at it closer. Early 70's is probably close because he said he got it in exchange for a car repair job. Since he's 5 foot nothing he couldn't ride it.

It's a good one. I think I see a Stronglight 93 crank, but with no chainrings! Those are excellent brakes. I still use a set that I bought new in the '70s. That could be an Ideale 2001 saddle. Mine looked like that at the end of its life.

Well, no decal for the tubing. The saddle is Cinelli. I can't figure out what the wheels or hubs are either. The owner said that he had it stored in his garage and someone stole the chainrings off of it. The frame is in pretty good shape. Too bad I have too many projects going or I'd fix it up. The crank says stronglight on it.

Front hub looks like a Maillard/Normany, Can't see the back one.

The front hub looks like the cheesey Normandy, not the Luxe Competition. The good ones have a ridge on the flange. It may not be a PR10. There's a model below it that has the good lugs and dropouts, but non-Reynolds tubing. I can't remember the model number and I can't look it up right now because I'm supposed to be working.

I believe a PX10, note the half-chrome rear drops and nervex fork crown area; you won't see those on PA10s . Note the jury rig to get the suntour on; I bet the derailleur hanger has not been tapped out. 531 decals are probably long gone on both frame and fork (not unusual, they disintegrated quick, and of my three PXs, only the 1967 has the decals intact. Looks like someone raided the Stronglight chainrings. I see the gold band on the front hub, indicating the Normandy Competition. Looks like a PX to me.

PXs were available in blue, in addition to the standard white, and the black lugs stopped sometime in the mid seventies (74/5?).

It's sitting in my office so I can take better pictures if you want. I think my boss wants to fix it up. The Mechanic who owns it just wants to see it go to a good home.

I couoldn't see the half chrome rear stays on my U.S. Government monitor at work. It's a PX10 for sure. The plain lugs and decals are like my '74, but mine came wirh Maillard 700 hubs.

Thanks, my computer is back after several months down. Should be about a bit more, adding my miniscule knowledge of bicycles French to the accumulated wisdom of this board. I doubt I was missed that much, it not like you guys can't id Peugeots perfectly well.

I'd tell you to send it to me, but I already have a bunch of them, and it should go to another happy rider. I really like them; I often ride my 72 on long rides. Very comfortable, yet fast, bike.

Looks like the rear wheel needs to be dished.

I used a set of those Dura Ace brakes on my old Raleigh International. Big, big improvement over the Weinmann center pulls.
