Northern California - So...we are just too "serious" in NorCal????

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Obviously there's a population component that makes the SoCal forum quite active, but having lived in Northern California for the past 14 years, I can tell you there are tons of cyclists from the coast to the valley to the foothills. Feel free to use this thread as a catch all or a "what's up" type spot. Weigh in and let us know what you are up to!

It is quite interesting how active the Socal forum is. In the last year I moved from Socal (woodland hills) to Folsom. There was some riding in socal but not to the extent there is up here. I hated riding in Socal but I love it up here. Some great rides all over the Sacramento and outlying areas. Maybe we can get this forum going!

Okay. I'm going to bed soon. Will you ask Bikingshearer for me? First week of April. Maybe on the Sunday. That is when Danno can make it. I can ask for the day off and I think you and Bikingshearer are off. Jon is always off. Or you can just show him this post.

Yeah, us, too.
I'm up for new roads to ride. Heck, every weekend we ride a 30 mi. fairly flat route, or a 40+ mi. hilly ride. And if you want hills, we have 'em here in Vacaville. I'm willing to travel for new challenges. What have you got?

Then again, our club founder is from No Cal..
Wouldn't want Big Sean to have his loyalties torn apart.

Those are all my regular rides too. I think that the club scene is so big in the bay area that is part of the reason the BF group rides are not as common here.

Can someone post routes in Vacaville or maybe just point me in the right direction?
How about getting together at the Bike Around the Buttes ride (there are 6 of us from this board going) or the Napa Tour de Cure on May 6? I will be there doing the 40 miler at BAB and 50 miler on a Verizon team made up of rookies in Napa.

I'd be interested in a BF BA ride. Post something detailing date/time/place, and I'll make it if I can.

Based on a long standing tradition (ie. Disneyland So Cal resident offers), Southern California is considered zip codes 90001 - 93599. If I'm not mistaken, that makes Fresno Northern California (but just barely).

how long ago was that George?I lived in the Bay Area just for a short while.....1973 & 74, before moving down and settling in L.A. I miss the mild summers there...
the summers have not been terribly mild of late.
but the whole place doesn't get set on fire, either. so there's that.

Unfortunately, I work almost every Saturday, so BAB is out for me. I really need the flat mileage to work on my knee. I'm signed up for the Tour De Cure 50 miler in Napa. I'm not on a team, just as an individual rider. Not sure what time I'll get there, but I'll be a chunky guy in his 50's, with neon yellow jacket or jersey on, on a silver RANS Stratus LE recumbent (like my avatar). It will ahve different handlebars than this pic.
