General Cycling Discussion - Calling Metro Atlanta Riders

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Greetings,
I'll be up in Atlanta next week getting some training at the New Horizons Training Center in Tucker. I'm staying with a buddy in Alpharetta.
Is anyone up for a BF dinner, perhaps Wednesday or Thursday night?
Also, is anyone up for a ride on the Silver Comet Trail on Friday? I'm meeting up with Samthebikinman for a ride on Friday and it would be great to have others meet us for a ride.
If anyone else wants to join us come on down, or up or over or ??? :)

Early in the morning/day would be best for me. I'll have to drive back to Warner Robins after we ride so the earlier the better.

Sam, zman92atl, bikedud: Would any of you guys be interested in meeting me at the Mavell Road trail entrance on Friday? I could there as early as 8:00 and would prefer to start riding no longer than 9:00. I was thinking of making the trip out to Rambo and back which would be about 44 miles.
Anyone else who wants to join is certainly welcome. I'll be riding my Blue/White K2 and will have a white jersey on. I'll bring the bike to the trail in a green Nissan Xterra.

Zack, I will have to start at Florence road but will be pulling the baby chariot so you will prbably catch up anyways. I will also be a little delayed in getting there so I may just be starting the ride once you have arrived at this trail access point.

Sorry, I have to work Friday. Too bad we could not do it Saturday. I live about 1 1/2 mile from the Rambo trail head. I'm heading there now for a 14 miler. Have fun. Watch for the congetion at the Mavell trail head. There are a lot more people on that end. Best -

I can't make it that early. I have to work in the morning, but I usually get off around 12. You guys have fun and be careful.
If any of you happen to go past Rambo, there is glass around marker 25(?). It is right under a bridge so you will not miss it. Another cyclist and I figured it must have been sabotage as the glass is strewn evenly across the whole path. I had just passed a guy who received a flat from it.
Terminator, I had just missed you yesterday by about 30 min. I usually ride about 22 miles any day it's clear. Yesterday I had extra time so I rode right at 30. I had passed Rambo by a couple of miles to check the scenery. Maybe next week if my schedule permits I will ride a little later so that I can say hi.
P.S. I really need to get a road bike for these long trips. I can hold my own considering I'm on a x-mart bike with some good components added. I figure while I am saving for a road bike, the extra weight of the x-mart is building up my legs.;)

Cool. I'll plan to be there as close to 8:00 as possible. If you go to www.trailexpress.com you can get directions to the path entrance.
Sam: Can you and your daughter meet us earlier than the time you and I discussed in our PM's?
zman, ted and pete: Sorry you guys can't make it. :(

Hey Zack, I will get there as early as possible. Since I am starting 11 miles downstream of you guys you will have at least 28-35 minutes of riding depending on speed for me to get ready.

You guys need to hit the hills in Stone Mountain Park.
:)
(Silver Comet, you're on my list...)

Pete, zman: Thanks for thinking about us. We never hooked up with Sam :(
Bikedud and I did 50 miles on the trail this morning. We rode out to the 25 mile mark and back. With the exception of breaking a spoke and falling over while clipped in (two separate incidents) we had a GREAT time. I'd love to come up again and try to ride the full length of the trail one of these days.

Sam,
Did you ride this evening? I met a guy at about sixish or so at the humpbacked bridge, pulling a chariot. I thought that it could have been you. For reference, today, Saturday the 30th. I am on the trail almost every day between marker number 22, at Rambo, and marker number 12, about a mile into Cobb County. I usualy start at six or six-thirty and end up back at Rambo around seven-thirty or so. I ride the celeste Bianchi with the Reynolds Ouzo fork, black, and I don't wear a lid. I sometimes wear a hat to cover the big bald head. :) Sunglasses are a must.
Zack and Sam and everyone else who made it --
My phone line has been down (thanks to those wonderful idiots at BellSouth). I was home all day Friday and didn't know if the ride was a sure thing (or where or when you'd meet) so I did my daily ride (all alone :( ) out to Stone Mountain. I'm up for the next time you want to ride.
FYI: BellSouth has been screwing with my phone line ever since I switched from Comcast to BellSouth a few weeks ago.
Why did I switch? To get DSL. :D
Earthlink (my ISP) only works with BellSouth so I had to switch. My phone has been out (no dial tone) for 4 days so far (2 days last week and 2 days the week before last) and I just switched the first week of May. Is this the way BellSouth welcomes all new customers? :crash: :p
Now that my phone is working Earthlink can now set up the DSL account.
