I use a mag trainer to work out during the week and I found out that the vibrations from the trainer make a lot of noise that travel down to the apartment below me.

I have a 1 inch thick piece of particle board that I'm going to wrap in an comforter/quilt and place the trainer on that platform. I'm hoping that will work.

Do you have any other (cheap) suggestions for dampening the noise? And yes I know, I could ride my bike outside but during the work week it's a lot easier to just get home and hop on the trainer.

Thanks in advance for your help.

A rubber mat or piece of carpet like used in retail stores for clerks/cashiers to stand on. Or just a carpet remnant from a flooring store.

I'd suggest a rubber padding of some kind.
The local Super hardware emporium (read Home Despot)
should have rubber carpet runners, about 1/2 inch thick,
it should dampen noise/vibrations well.
If all else fails you could get a treadmill mat, they are
thick rubber and should deaden everything, but
they're not cheap, about 30 to 40 bucks.
