Does anyone have a training log set up in excel with formulas that they would be willing to email me? Thanks

I have one that I set up to track my training schedule for the MS150.

You, and all, are welcome to DL it and adapt it if it's what you are looking for...

Thanks Chip. I need a backup system if Bike Pro Log never comes back up.

I use a MSExcell format. I copy and paste it to a MS Word document, then save it as HTML, and then view as html source code, and then copy and paste it to my web page as an html document. Its really easy. You can see it at my web page, listed in the sig file. I am going to take a look at the one I just downloaded from this post. - Best

Not racing yet, I need to get a better bike for that. Right now I am riding for fitness and personal distance goals. Once I finish grad school I am going to think about racing, and buying a newer bike.

Using Excel for a bike log is a great idea. Wonder why I didn't think of it. I used Bike Prolog, but since they've been off the net, I've been using a pad and pencil. Excel makes much more sense. I use Excel for my family's budget, and it has worked great. Now, for the first time in my life, I know where all my money goes (wine, women, bikes). I like the way Excel keeps a running total of everything. Bike Prolog was great, but if they're not consistently up and running, it's of no use to me.

Check out www.activebody.org... very easy to use and does most of what bikeprolog does/did

and it's free...

and it will not go away (cause I use it for my own training).

Cheers,
Clint

Cyclochica & Trmcgeehan,

If you are still looking for a simple excel spreadsheet to collect riding and running data see if the attached one works for you.

I've been using it for about a year and it works ok for me as a method to collect data such as distance, time, heart rate and keeps track of cummulative miles, calculates MPH, weekly averages, etc.

(I had to delete some of the charting functions to get the size down below 102kb so the charts don't work)

The cells are not protected so be sure and only enter data in the yellow cells.

If you improve on it just be sure to repost the revised version.

memphisjim: would you mind emailing me the full version. Thanks!

Zack,

I've received a few PM's with some questions and suggestions.

What type of additional info do you want to keep track of? Time, Distance, Average, Weekly Average, Cummulative, etc. and for activities other than riding? such as running and swimming, etc. Also what types of charts, graphs and summaries?

Let me know and I'll try and include your suggestions.

Jim

Jim,

I'm interested in cycling only. Add all the features you want - I'll just skip the ones I don't need :)

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Memphisjim, the chart looks great. Thanks so much.

I have a nice spreadsheet developed on Excel 2000 but don't have the zip utility to post through the forum. It includes a data entry sheet, multiple chart sheets, and sheets that are used in data manipulation to create the charts available. Updating data is done via a macro which is invoked by holding the 'ctrl' key down and pressing 'w'. It updates all charts, saves the file and returns user to last data entered. Only data entry required is miles and minutes. One down side, it is year 2003 specific, however, using it from one year to another would only result in some shifting of data from week to week or month to month on the charts. Bar graphs include: Cumulative Miles, Weekly Miles, Monthly Miles, Average distance/ride/month, and Average MPH per month.

How about emailing it to people who want it instead of trying to post it on the forum?

Fuji, I'd love to get my hands on your chart....

A good log from cyclingforum.com

Cycling ChartLogTTF Workbook

Longtime forum member and contributor JayPee has created a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet analysis tool for reviewing cycling data.

JayPee's ChartLogTTF Workbook has received a fairly thorough review and workout over the last 6 weeks so it should work without major flaws. He will provide support for it - not only as constructed, but for any updates as may be needed. In addition, he will assist FORUM MEMBERS in making reasonable custom modifications if needed.

memphisjim,

That is a phenominal chart that you offered. I enjoyed the MS 150, I tweaked it some, but this one that you came up with is really fabulous. Thanks!
