What do you all thinnk about the 06 Roubaix Comp Triple.

Shimano Ultegra brakes, 10 speed 105 shifters, Derailleurs, 12-27t cassette, chain, , , Shimano R600 Hubs,

53x39x30T chainrings, FSA SL-K MegaExo 2 piece carbon crank set,

Specialized Fact Carbon frame.

In the 52 frame size

I think its a sweet looking bike. It will be shipped out of Colorado in a week or so to my LBS and for what I am giving for it, is not much more than a new Allez!! :D

I have an 05 triple and I love it but I am past the triple now. I don't think you can go wrong with a Roubaix.

I've had some issues with the FSA parts, but I'm generally happy with my 06 (compact) double.

Given our posting this in the racing forum, I'm assumming you're getting it to race ( and I do know Roberto Heras won the Veulta, using a triple for some stages). Thus, do you really want tot get a triple?
The triple will be slightly heavier, and shift a little less crisply. And unless you're doing some big mountain races, you'll never use the small chain ring.

Particularly with the option of putting on a compact as needed, I would think very hard before buying a bike set up for a triple as a racing bike.

Yes my plans are on racing this bike and I have been racing with it. Well, if you want to call what I am doing racing. My reasoning for the trip. is this is my noob year into racing and I do not have climbing legs for even the smallest hills. Yes I can grind up them but no where near racing speed. Last weekend in the Wilkesville to Wilkesville road race I was took to school on the first majour climb, was droped quickly. Even though I pulled back up tp the group I was promply dropped for good on the next climb.

I am a heavy Athena and try my best with the lighter riders. If I ever develope climbing legs and as I learn more, I will get a double. I did learn alot in the last race. Such as changing to climbing gears instead of normal flatland gearing. I sucks to get droped climbing when you know you can hang otherwise.

Wilkesville to Wilkesville - nice route. Wilkesville is in my backyard and I hit Hawk Station hill on most of my rides. I rode on Sunday and ended up coming towards the finish just before the group (in Wilkesville the lady deputy was pointing me right and I pointed left. As I passed by she commented about me going the 'wrong' way and I thought it was kind of funny - she must have thought I was crazy). Great day for a ride.

As far as the bike goes, my lowest gear is a 39-23, which gets me up most of the steep (they are short) hills around here with a little grinding. I have considered getting a 27 in the back, although a triple I think for me would be overkill for the short hills here.
