This makes me feel MUCH better about my obsession with $1950 (list, you can buy them for about $1750 new, $1400 or less slightly used) Zipp 404's. Thank you. I'm printing out this thread to show to my wife if she ever (God forbid) discovers this diversion of monies into the super top secret Patentcad Cycling Schwag Slush Fund.

D'HO!!!! I just blew my cover.

People equating a set of silly overpriced bicycle wheels with Ferraris is one of the charmingly ludacris aspects of BF that keep me coming back every day.

Ferraris are not overpriced OR silly. Not at all.

You're the master of silliness P-Caddy.

Lets do a little cost/benefit analysis on my wheels to car comparison.

6000 dollar bicycle wheels = Ferrari @ 300,000
1500 dollar bicycle wheels = Corvette @ 70,000

For all intents and purposes, they perform just about the same...but one costs 4x as much :p

If you're trying to make me feel better about $1500 Zipps by equating them with a 'Vette - I'd rather have a Corvette.

Applying cost/benefit analysis to Ferraris is as pointless as trying to justify $6000 bicycle wheels. Does anybody actually BUY those Lew wheels? I know people buy Ferraris. I'd buy a Ferrari if I had the dough. But if I were Donald friggin Trump you wouldn't catch me DEAD with Lew rims on my bike. Not a chance.

But the Zipps will be mine. Oh yes. Mine. Not yours SP. (You probably have them already anyway).

I saw a great video of a lamborgini Diablo and a $22,000.00 Mitsubishi Lancer EVO on a F1 style race track. The Diablo could not lose the lancer no matter how hard it tried. Perfomance to cost ratio kind of flattens out on the upper end rapidly.
