any kestrel dealers that offer last year's model at ebay prices?

hey guys, im looking to buy a road bike. i settled on either a talon SL or regular talon...


I saw a couple new but last year's model bikes go for around $1500 on ebay and was wondering if any local shops had similar prices. id rather buy local if I can. i am in diamond bar so i am close to the IE, LA and OC areas.

take a look at Triathalon Labs in Redondo Beach. give them a call first since it is a bit far from Diamond Bar.

I don't know many Kestrel dealers in OC - I know The Edge, in Lake Forest, which is basically a Tri shop, does. You might give Hank a call.

Performance has a few Kestrels in their Santa Monica store... dunno models or pricing.

Tri Lab 06 Kestrels are gone... I just came from there. They were blowing out the 06 Talon SLs at $2600 and at that price, they weren't sticking around. Sorry.

Edge is the only shop I can recall seeing Kestrel's at locally. If you go, hopefully the service has gotten better. I only went there once (shortly after they opened) and walked out after standing around for 15 minutes waiting for service. All the workers were too busy chit-chatting to help me - I guess they didn't notice me in the completely customer-less shop.

Oh I see you had the same experience with The Edge as I only stupidly I went there several times and each time, was totally ignored. I have friends however that go no where else. They love the shop. I sent a friend there who bought two custom bikes so now he's a good customer and gets waited on. Me? I went there for a bento Bag or something. Not enough money involved to warrant attention I guess. But they do carry Kestrels.

I've still seen some Kestrels at the Laguna Performance store. I think any of the former Supergos may have them.

I went looking to buy a pair of Carnac's, Time pedals, a couple new sets of riding clothes and some other misc stuff - easily a thousand dollars worth of kit. I went there since Hank was a good friend of my brothers, who recommended I take a look. I went in (admittedly looking a bit rough) in my usual shorts and t-shirt, 5 o'clock shadow and long hair and was just flat out ignored. The guys would look at me, I'd stand there with product in my hand, looking right at them with a 'hello guys, I'd like some help' look on my face, but they just turned away and continued chatting. I'm don't consider myself to be a snooty shopper, but I do expect the workers to come to me and if not say hello, at least offer some help.

Now I didn't see Hank and I'm sure HE would have helped me because I sort of knew him, but regardless, I'll never step foot in there again.

OK, I'll stop hijacking this thread.

On topic to the OP - another thread was about a deal on tubes. In this thread there was a posting to a website that had a Talon on sale. It's been years since I purchased my Kestrel so I don't know how good a price it is, but it may be worth a look.
