somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near

your slightest look easily will unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skilfully,mysteriously) her first rose

or if your wish be to close me,i and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;

nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility: whose texture
compels me with the color of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing

(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens; only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands

Tout à fait jolie, santiago. :)

(Quelle chanson a sauvé votre âme? J'aime bien ce chanteur, malheuresement je l'écoute vers DIALUP.)

La chanson s'appelle "1990" par Jean Leloup. Aujourd'hui il s'appelle Jean Leclerc. It's a really groovy song and right at the end you hear the phrase, "Hier soir dj a sauvé mon âme avec cette chanson." I've always thought it to be so cool since it's such an old school phrase "last night a dj saved my life with this song". The song "1990" is pretty cool. You should try to get your hands on it.

The poem above was actually just placed here so that I can link to it from a Mountain Bike thread. We were discussing e e cummings at the same time as we were helping a roadie gain confidence with riding clipless with his new mountain bike.

All the same, thank you, santiago. I had forgotten how much I enjoy that poem. :)

Precisely. Someone wrote that e e cummings sucks. I wrote back that [somewhere i have never travelled] is a great poem and that's why it's here.
